Maestro, is that Montego Blue on your RX-7? I'm hoping that that's very close to what the Nordic Green is going to look like- it was very similar on the paint block/chip thing at Detroit.

And that, by the way, is a BEAUTIFUL car. In both cases.

Yeah Montigo blue is my RX-7.
The RX-8 is a concept car which is back in Japan.

The real one arrives in May :D

Yeah Nordic is actually really nice ;D

But I went for a Impact colour Yes the yellow but then again mine is a sales vehicle so there was no real question.

Velocity red look great under artificial lights.

red with Gold pearl very very nice !

Whoa..have you seen the Nordic Green in person then? I heard a rumor that some guys from the New Zealand Rotary club went to Japan to one of the factories....where you part of that group then?

Nice car! Those wheels go great with that color.

I never knew that's what Nordic Green was like, that's a good choice. I don't understand why we haven't seen any pre-productions cars in that color.

Maestro,

I've got a question for you. I've sat in the rx8 on its tour here and I fit alright. It was a little tight on the legroom, but that tends to happen anyway when your 6'5". My question is about the headroom/legroom in the fd. Is there any chance in hell that I would fit. A comparison of the headroom/legroom would be great, since you have been in both. I am sure in the fd I would probably have to master the knee-to-steering wheel form of driving, but it would be nice to hear what you have to say about the two.

FD has definately less head room though it is easy enough to modify the seats so you can sit further back.

RX-8 would be better suited to the taller person.

Maestro,

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I am probably going to get an fd in the next couple of months, (cant afford the 8 yet) but I was worried about the headroom and legroom. Headroom was fine in the 8, and to be honest the legroom was not that bad as well. It's sad, I have sat in the 8 and researched the 7 for months, but I still have not sat in an fd to see what it is like. But from what you say, I still think there is a chance I can fit in an fd. Thanks,
billdo

The FD has more room (head and leg) than an F-Body, 3000GT, and 300ZX from personal experience.

If you're buying this car for a daily driver, the price of FD + maintaining it will be about the same as a brand new 8 after a few years.

m477, the 7 will be more of a project car than a daily driver. Trust me, I know what I will be getting into with a fd *grabs wallet in fear*. Thats why I am looking for one that needs a new motor and basically a lot of work, so that when its rebuilt I can be sure it's done right and that I know what I am dealing with. There is pretty decent shop here in New Orleans that will do the engine job for around 3k, which is not too bad. The 8 will hopefully be in my driveway in a couple of years though.

RX-7 is the project car, RX-8 is the comapny car - hehehe

Fd is okay to maintain but only if you drive it on the wekends. Mine used to be a daily driver :D

Maestro,

I that actually your 8?

If so I have a couple of questions.

Is the rear fog light LED or regular light bulb?
Under what conditions does the rear fog light turn on?
(low beams, front fog lights)

If you are friendly with the dealer, can you find out if the rear fog light can be ordered as a replacement part? ie. crash repair.

It would repair the fact that my USA model does not have one.
I would be interested in ordering one and paying to have it shipped to me.

Thanks, Ned in Daytona FL USA (Titanium Gray, Auto, Touring Pkg, Appearance Pkg, Rear Spoiler, FR Rotor accents)

Thats a Pre-Release concept car.

Our Car doesn't arrive till May, but the RX-7 is mine.

The concept was a reflector like the Mazda 6 is. We get the same as you guys.

Friendly with a dealer ?? I am one. I was bought on especially for the rotary programme.

UK specs get the foglights should be very easy to get. Will check with my UK contacts for you. They don't have any part numbers on the RX-8 yet though :(

But will post the email anyway ;)

Thanks,

From my email from Mazda about two weeks ago, mine should be being built this week, with delivery sometime in May?

My dealer was able to get the Port-Added goodies added to my order this morning.

What about a shop manual? How do you recommend that I go about ordering one? Any idea what the cost should be?

One more question for now. How durable do you expect the exhaust system to be? Does Mazda aluminize the pipes and mufflers?

What was the experience on the RX-7?

The Exhaust system on my current 1990 Honda Accord still looks nearly new after 14 years.

Thanks again, Ned.

Mazda are all alloy.

Very good build quality especially Rotary Products.

Rx-8 is a new level the finishing on the car is second to none really. Especially the rotor head rests very trick !

Wait until you get them in the country ording things now will just get messy. Your part guys should sort you out with anything you need.

If all else fails use the net :D
