is it possible u can share some information with us about the RX8? how does the engine sound, is the exhaust loud? Is the steering wheel light or heavy? Is it really really fast?

The engine is really smooth, you can't even tell the engine is on.
Steering is light but firm. Remember my car is an Old FB, even though my fb feels good, this car felt like a Rolls. Well I lost to the FD The RX-8 Needs an Exhaust bad ( but it was Quick)

Some people have disliked the styling of the car when they see it in person. Did you like the looks and build quality?

Did you notice any problems with low end torque (NOONE START THE ARGUMENT - JUST GET ANSWERS!)?

Have you driven a 350Z and if so how do they compare.

yes you can tell that it's lacking torque, but makes up for it up top

what is the design of the key? is it a rotary shaped key? if so what color is it? is there lots of noice when u drive it on the freeway? Is it floating at high speed? Thanks

what did you mean by it needs an exhaust bad but its quick?

The key on this preproduction model is a regular mazda key No rotor.

I reved it when it was parked. It is really quiet. No real rotary sound until you reach the high RPM's.

depending upon where you are and what time it is-no rotor sound may be a good thing

I would love to hear a good engine note when revved up, like a good crisp sound letting everyone know that it means business.


*adding to this post* Although I wouldn't want one of those monster exhausts added to my RX-8, you guys think there is a small one out there that'll make it have a nice growl when revved? Like one magazine said "...the RX-8 looks Italian...." I don't want my RX-8 to look like "Italian Rice" LOL:p

yeah for sure... you can get less restrictive (and thus louder) mufflers which don't give you that ricey fart sound, and have a decent diameter tip (like, what, 80-90mm is small these days).
go to any muffler shop, and they can weld one on for you no prob.

I like the bimmer exhaust note....especially the M3 sounds like it means business

Same thing in every city. Promoting the RX-8. They are hitting all the clubs to try and bring in the 18 - 35 age group.

Formula Wimmin in the UK, hitting the clubs in the US: why do I get a sinking feeling about Mazda's marketing plans for the RX-8?! :(

Back from the dead:D

Well its been 4 years since I started this thread and I think I;m finally getting an 8. My RX7 is no longer with us, but I think I still want to own a Rotary.

Now I just need to find out what year to get. Have they fixed all the bugs on the new ones?
