Does anyone remember their driver's ed. class? When I took it, in er, 1999, they never mentioned anything about driving a stick. I ask myself now, "what the deal yo?" I wonder why driver's ed. doesn't teach kids how to drive a manual. No wonder more and more cars today come in automatic form. Not that automatic is a bad thing. You'd want something like that, especially in an SUV.

I had to learn how to drive a stick the hard way. Well, sometimes that is the best way to learn. I think kids need to learn how to drive manual transmissions. I know that there are some that are pretty much experts, but the majority doesn't have a clue. Is the manual transmission doomed :(?

What was driver's ed. like back then, and how does it compare to today?

you know I wondered the same thing.. why is it that americans don't get taught how to drive stick?

My good friend is german and he says that everyone gets taught to drive on a stick. you only get an auto if you really are terrible. haha.. also since he moved to the states he said that our driving test is a joke over here..

so who knows.. but I will tell you one thing we have some really crappy drivers over here. and I do think we should have a tougher driving test.. heck when I took mine I didn't even have to parallel park!
