What is different about this picture?

1) lowered
2) yellow
3) removal of suicide doors - which makes it look much better

There are a few thing involved with removing the suicide doors plus 6 things that you didn't notice.

let's see... ya, what he said (the suicide door removal), and you:
1) eliminated the turn signals on the side mirrors
2) changed the shape of the side window (made it shorter horizontally)
3) eliminated the front wheel well vents
4) changed the rake of the windshield, i think... lower, like a 7

and i think that the suidcide doors look better than just the two... even if there's a seam in the side window

oh, i see now... the rake of the windshield is the same, but the whole car (not just the side window) is shorter (your take on the 4th gen 7?? ahaha...)

Didn't touch the side mirrors.

The length is shorter... but thats not all.

Did you change the headlights any?

no change to the headlights, but close.

I probably missed something but here goes:

nose more slanted & aggressive
rear window taken from '\' to '/' design
shortened height of actual vehicle

You changed the shape of the back window and the seat.

I only see one change. RX-8 to 4th gen RX-7. I hope the Mazda designers are watching this thread. :D Great Photochopping Styjan! :cool:

Differences between the two 4th gen RX-7 pics:

1) New car pic is shorter in the C pillar region, shortening the wheelbase and overall length.

2) Rear hatch is longer in new pic.

3) NOTA V6 is drooling more on keyboard over 2nd pic. :D

Go to your User Control Pannel (the user cp button above) and choose edit options. You can add an Avitar if you have more then 10 posts.

Actually, I think he's referring to the text by the avatar if he had one. ;)

Go to "user cp" > "Edit Profile". Then fill in your new title in the box by "Custom User Text". But please, we have too many "Masters of the Universe" already. :D

Not so, just follow NOTA V6's instructions above, you may need to have a certain number of posts for the "Custom User Text" option to show.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't have the "Custom User Text" option... oh well-

Once you get over a certain amount of posts you will become a member (opposed to "junior member")

Beings many if not most of us diehard rotor-head owners post in the RX-7 forum and anxiously await the next generation, I would have no qualms with our post-count being "transferred" here. Seeing that product knowledge is basically irrelevant on this new model, the manufacturer will glean additional demographics of those who are interested in the RX-8, in addition to the fresh prospects. :D

hey styjan, got any hints, tricks or tips for us photo shop newbies? i tried to just change the color on a pic of the rx8 the other day and it was horrible!

The most important skill to learn when using photoshop is the using the selection tools. You need to learn to add and subtract to a selection, save selections and add and subtract saved selections from one and other.

I noticed that I am the most recent poster in all of the other forums here. I figured I might as well post here so my name will be on all five of our sections. Cool, useless, and it won't last long.

Can you possibly make one with adjusting anything except the color...I would like see one in black with the Chrome 5 spoke wheels. I know not many people in the forum care for chrome, but if you have time please fix one up.

this was a quicky.

i like all the colors in the animation with the changing rx8, the only color i disagree with is the green.. definately have to go..


i was going to call altezza lights on that little differences thing, but after seing the switching animation changed my mind.. but oh well.... no more altezzas....

Taking away the Suicide doors totally ruins the whole idea of the RX-8. The biggest reason people will buy this car is cause it is a 4 door that fits four people. It's functional. It looks nice, but then it wouldn't be an RX-8.

He basically turned it into what many people want from the 4th gen RX-7

I think most people that starting coming to this forum were people hurting for a new rx7 anyways. Of coarse, the rx8 is awsome and is deffinately a welcome addition to anyone with children. I know the lack of an rx7 is what innitially sparked my interest with the new rotary rx8. Any rotary is better than no rotary but i think we all want to see a new rx7 someday.

Indeed.... but a new RX-7 is dependent on the success of the RX-8... Mabe it's too early, but it sure feels like we're not getting much info.

If Mazda have got the rotary sorted, then they can prove it with the RX-8 and mabe we'll see it in other cars too... it's definitely got advantages.

um, unless you made this pic in at the earliest october of 2002, and you have just waited until now to post it, you are plagiarizing this pic...i have had this pic on my computer since october of 2002 and i'm sure it has been on the internet for a lot longer...being sweet at photoshop is one this, taking someone elses' hard work and posting it years later is pretty shady...so my closing words are...either really good job on the photochop, but why did you wait 2 years to post the pic, or fess up to the shady act of stealing someone's work

for your info sir i direct you to the date of the original post. this is in fact Styjans work that he posted first here on 07-09-2002, 04:26 PM. at one point the server he had these hosted on went down and most of his pics were lost to us. however he just today, after over a years absence on the forum, stopped in to say hello. several of us asked for the pics, he had these two left and re-attached them to the original posts. which is why my bump post says in honor of his return. so he did not wait "two years to post" and yes they are very good chops!! he's one of the best.

Nice job altering the photo! Aren't those the wheels from the prototype? I've seen them on some older promotional pictures of a red prototype where there are several differences (lights, grille, door cut-outs into roof, etc.) between it and the current 8.

I think it looks wonderfu. I'd love to have one like that.
