Depends what the type of race it is. I think the potential weight difference give the 8 an edge. I'd think the more curves involved the edge would creep towards the 8 but the more and higher hills that are involved it'd return towards the Viper. So - what type of race is under consideration?

To my understanding it is a 1/4 mile race and i think we would do also a mile race, straight no curve

How wide are the slicks on the RX8? I'm favoring the Viper based on it's stock tire width (?) 335 versus the RX8's 225. Obviously both are running wider tires but I'm thinking that the Viper can run a wider tire which may give it a traction advantage. 800+hp is a stupid amount and both will fly but this race will be won or lost on traction.

On your 20B RX-8, what kind of material did you use for the exhaust manifold? It's a gorgeous piece, and I am sure it flows like the Lincoln Tunnel :). Also, what do you think about what could be done to make an effective turbo exhaust manifold for the RENESIS?

My money is on the viper. Mainly because we've never seen performance specs for your 20b rx8. whatever happened to that porsche race?

Does this RX-8 have the OEM rear axle assembly. If so, I predict that pup blows before you get a 10 ft time.

well,,i have stock case, but the internals are changed, to hold the extra load of power, we already broke the rear ,,and we upgraded it

well,

1. we had a company make us a bigger and stronger carbon fiber driveshaft

2. Then we had a company that builds and sell upgrade rear diff for Corvet, make us one for an Rx-8.


p.s. if u do a shearch on the internet for stuff you'll find millions of company, is all a matter of if you want to pay the money to get the products build. you can also check out the National Dragster, you'll find millions of company there who make anything and everything you can imange

I will go with the Viper, probably will have better traction. Also as pointed out there are no stats for the Acosta RX8, have you run a 1/4mi in your RX8 Acosta, and if you have could you tell us the time? Over a mile though I think the RX8 would win because it has more hp and less weight, that is if it does not break.

Weight plays less of a roll at the high speeds of a 1 mile race. It's going to be aerodynamics that will determine the 1 mile winner. Both look pretty slippery but aerodynamics is a funny art and not something you can eyeball. I know that the Viper has been tested at 150+mph but did Mazda fine tune the aerodynamics for 150+ mph. You never know...it could get unstable at the extreme even though the engine could push it faster.

ok guys the day has been set-up. AUGUST 25TH

I'm a muscle fan too, but who knows, both cars are making almost the same, HP and the viper has only run a best time of high ten's on the track. But on the streets it's a hole different game.

p.s. i'm also almost 1000 pounds lighter. so that would make up for the TQ different.


but besides all, it's just for fun!!

If hes only running high 10's my 3rd Gen RX-7 with half the HP would be a challenge for it on the drag strip.

the viper ran high ten's during the first time out, but they were still testing the car back then, since then, they haven't taken the car back to the track.
