Well I just got back from the doctor yesterday and he told me he believes I have asthma. I am 34 and this is the first year I ever had issues breathing. As far as unlucky 17, well it was at 17 that I first experienced allergies. Allergies aren't so bad if I stay away from dogs & cats(sorry Meowloud&other limecat afficionado's). I am afraid of what to expect at 51.

Asthma + Computer Nut = ?????? Good think I have my RX-8 to make me cool (j/k).

go to my old school, in the new buildings they not only have giant air scrubbers to take out the allergens and toxins, but they pump oxygen as well (im guessing to keep us awake)

Damn!! - It isn't asthma. I have to go see a specialist because my lungs are only at 40%. Good news is the X-rays don't show anything.

Dag, hope you're ok...

I was 28 when I was diagnosed with Asthma... about 2 years ago... It was weird, I went to bed on a Saturday night, woke up Sunday with difficulty breathing... my lungs were at 75 % at that time, and after managing my asthma, they went up to 90%

Thanks for the thoughts - hopefully I will know what's up this afternoon.

Here's my funny (not really) doctor's story related to this.

I have been showing symptoms for around 3-4 months, and it started to get bad in June. I just moved in May so I had to choose a new doctor. I went to this doctor that I basically randomly chose. I explained to him that once I exert myself, I start gasping for air. I had trouble walking up the stairs. He proceded to explain to me that he is 90% certain that I lack proper "conditioning" and that if I exercise daily, it should go away. I proceed to argue that although I am not in the best shape, I can not believe I lack the conditioning. I still can run 5K's without training very much. The technician that I had the PFT with today called the guy a serious quack. Needless to say, that same day, I signed up with a new primary care physician.
