Cool Supra? or Alessandro Volta?

OK first I read Toyota says its the new Supra. Then I read Its the new Lexus. Now they are calling it the Alessandro Volta!!!... I say its the new Supra and they are trying to trick me so I dont get my hopes up and go get one... When it comes out that is:D . Well the Alessandro Volta will be a 3 passenger car, 14-foot long coupe, and is slightly narrower thatn 6.5 feet with a 3.3-liter V6 @ 408HP. Toyota says top speed of 250 kh/h (155MPH), 0-100KH/h (0-62MPH) in a scorching 4.06 seconds!!! The Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain combines a 3.3-liter V6 petrol engine with 2 powerful electric motors, which, according to Toyota, provide the Alessandro Volta with a total output of 408HP. The Hybrid powertrain is mounted in a midship position, as the forth wheels are powerd by the second electric motor, genreating four-wheel traction wothout the need for a transmission shaft. OK I dont get that last part but I like it. Now Toyota says the Alessandro Volta is a styling exercise aimed at exploring new applications of the Hybird Synergy Drive technology. Bull. We hear this is what the next Supra is going to look like...
-Scott Oldham of Sport Compact Car.

Toyota made big news in Geneva, unveiling this beautiful hybrid-powered sports car. Designed by Italdesign-Giugiaro, the Alessandro Volta—named after the Italian scientist who discovered the battery—features a carbon-fiber chassis and the same 3.3-liter V-6 and dual electric motors as the Lexus RX400h and Toyota Highlander hybrids. In the Volta, the mid-mounted powerplant is said to produce 402 horsepower. The second electric motor powers the front wheels, providing four-wheel traction without the need for a transmission shaft. Toyota says the Volta demonstrates the potential and flexibility of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system. Could it also foreshadow the next Supra? We can only hope.

I'll take the Alessandro Volta over a new Supra. But it'd be nice to have the legend return.

I imagine that car would be far more expensive than a new Supra.
From what I've read, even the Prius is expensive, and continues to be expensive to maintain.

I would like to see the Supra come back. Unfortunately, knowing and owning three Toyotas in my lifetime, they are definitely going to jack up the price if it did ever come back. It is after all, the Supra ($43,000?!?).

If Toyota ever did come out with a Supra, it would be worth the price; they have always been a pinnacle of quality .
