Well, darn it- I was thinking the exact opposite, and his name would be "Fred."

FRED??? that's hardly a name befitting an RX... it should be something sexy, powerful, and dynamic... like, Andrew :p ahahaha... jk elara ;) :D

Hey, the most gorgeous man I have ever seen (aside from my husband, if he reads this) was named Fred- unfortunately for me, he was also gay. So naming my car "Fred" would be a very high compliment.

but Andrew's good too- though my brother-in-law might think I was naming it after him, which would be odd...

is it me or aren't all pieces of fine machinery considered to be female? :D

molly is my mx-6. my wife's BMW we named "cliff" since that was the name of the salesman (that we liked).

to me, your car's name should be a pet name or of the gender (to which you have a preference). after all, don't you LOVE your car?

roxanne is a great name... i might have to "steal" it (and shorten it to roxy). ;)

Our Explorer is just "Stinky." I think it's male, but I haven't gotten underneath to check. ;)

Our Probe was Trish and our BMW is Alexandra. However, my Festiva, when I still had it, had no name but was definitely a boy. I still think my RX-8 will be a boy too. And I'm still going to name him "Fred"(as long as it fits him-we'll see when he gets here).

And I'm not really fond of Roxanne, no offense guys- I just couldn't name my car after a hooker :p

Well of course she will be called Roxy. That's a given. My other gals are:

96 Kawi GPZ110, Jeanie
85 Magna 1100, Maggie
92 Katana 750, Suzy
99 Miata, Peggy

Machines are just supposed to be female.

I'd agree that most machines are supposed to be female, but I have has some that were just male, no doubt about it... my '68 Bug was Freddy, my '66 MicroBus... definately Male... was Willie... and my buddy's 67 bug was Walley... but my ex's convertable bug was definately female, Josephine... being white with red interior... the thing practically had a bow on it... hehe...

None of my newer cars have had names though, it just seems like newer cars (well, most at least) lack the personality to warrant a name... only time will tell i suppose.

In that case my cars name would have to be Mercedes (http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mbender/Projects/DSCN0017.jpg). But I don't think would be too fitting for a Mazda... hmmm time to get a new pet I guess-

I'd prefer "my baby". It expresses affection and is gender neutral for an "it". :p

When I hear Doris I think of my old wrinkly bitchy grandma...

Rael, I'm not saying Doris is a bad name... I just have a different name association with it-

Sports cars are generally pretty, tempermental, and you spend all your money on them. So of course they're female. :p

If I call my 8 "Eleanor", I hope she won't know the difference. ;)

My car will be named Kobe. To show that it's cocky, flashy, and a showoff. They also both wear the number 8.

I always give my cars, motorcycles and guns feminine names. I just can't immagine feeling that kind of affection for a male. :)
