Faster 0-60? 1/4 mile ... faster around Mid-Ohio? And do you mean stock of modded? The 3rd gen is a pure sports car, the RX-8 has some compromises. Phyre 01-09-2002, 11:09 AM Ofcourse the only thing that matters 1/4 mile and the mile, we all know street racing is where it counts :D Daimon 01-09-2002, 02:39 PM :D Turbo and Naturally Aspirated cars should never be compared for the purpose of all out speed. Anyways I'm new, just saying hello BOOSTD 7 01-09-2002, 08:04 PM Originally posted by Phyre 1/4 mile and the mile, we all know street racing is where it counts :D Oh get out of here! If you really think that, you should buy a Camaro or a Supra. Don't disgrace a RX-7 or 8 by only street racing it ... especially the FD. That's a road race car. Phyre 01-10-2002, 05:08 PM I don't know about that pure sports car thing, suspositly the rx8 platform and it's weight are suspose to out produce the old 7's umm, and the new engines technology is that much better. I just wonder if they actuly made a car you can put into 10's.. BOOSTD 7 01-10-2002, 07:49 PM You can get ANY car in the 10's with enough money ... But I think the 8's performance speaks for itself... ie speedsource. 24 hrs of Lemans, granted that was a 20b powered car but what a testiment to the balance and overall chassis rigidity. And my 8 is way more fun to drive than any stock 3rd gen I've ever driven. Brakes!! Brakes!!! and what about the difference in the brakes... Holy shit!@! The Ford Probe has better brakes than a 3rd gen.... But Man do I want one of those babies. One of the most beautiful cars ever designed. Yeah, and that car is a purpose built tube framed race car it's not even an RX8, but whatever. Anyways, I personally would have both cars if I could. I'll stick with my 8 for now though. pfloydss 04-28-2008, 10:20 PM U guys r funny as this was an epic thread bump that hasnt been seen for years now and you all have a comment to say something about it. nycgps 04-28-2008, 11:03 PM Ryan knows his shit.... Anything you see on tv has about as much to do with your rx-8 as the mustang next to you in the parking lot. And unless you are regularly pulling your car down from 120 mph to 30 mph for the hairpin at the end of the straight you don't need any better brakes than a ford probe. And even then all you need are track pads. EDIT : Especially on a car that probably weighs 4-500 pounds less. I take that back, who knew how light probe's were? Haze 04-30-2008, 02:26 PM How is the lord's green earth does a 6 year old thread bump actually merit any sort of response? In 2002 when this question was asked it was all just theoretical, and the presumed horse power of the RX8 was somewhere well above 250BHP. Not only is that not a Pinto, I don't think that it is a Ford. Haze 04-30-2008, 02:28 PM In other thoughts, Ryan should update his avatar. I doubt if he has logged on here since he sold it. |
