Yhea I want to know what is required to make these side markers to be just a little bit more useful. I almost got ran the f***k over by a SUV last night, I signaled switching lanes and just as I am just about to be finished this SUV turns on its signals and starts to switch into where I was.
Is it possible to have the side markers be like the ones on some older BMW's where they alterenate blink from the side marker and the front one?
First look at the wiring Diagram suggest it could be done. Wiring to the side light and the turn signal light exits from a common spot on the wiring bundle on each side of the car. Assuming you want the side light to remain on with the headlights lights on and blink when you activate the respective side's turn signal would require you add a relay to each side to blink the side light...with that's side turn signal.
You have to tap into the turn signal circuit and add a relay to the side light with the relay controlled by the turn signal circuit to interrupt the side light voltage.

Makes you wonder why Mazda did not do it when they built the car. I had a P5, and the side marker blinked woth the turn signal. A very good idea.

Sounds like a good idea to me, and I've been pondering it. Hopefully someone will do it and make a DIY post. Otherwise, I may tackle it down the road a bit...

sounds EXCELLENT. would definitely void your warranty on all your electrics, though.
