View Full Version : WedsSport TC-005/Toyo T1S Installed with Pics
davefzr 07-10-2004, 01:47 AM Hey there.. I just got these products installed a few days ago.
These wheels are hot! The pictures really dont do them justice...
You know.. I had never even heard of these wheels until a week ago when I went down to this local shop and looked at the wheels he had.. I wasnt interested in anything too fancy.. but was looking for more of a race feel...
I thought that I wanted a 5 spoke design and never really considered anything else until I saw these...
Just kept on getting drawn back to these wheels so I had to make the purchase..
The guy even took a picture of my car after the installation was done and will probably post it on his site...
Anyway.. here are the pics! :)
davefzr 07-10-2004, 01:48 AM Pictures of the wheels/tires...

XDEEDUBBX 07-10-2004, 06:33 AM not bad...are they gun metal?
davefzr 07-10-2004, 02:33 PM Yeah.. they are a dark gray color.. I believe that they also come in silver but these look way better.
English 07-10-2004, 03:01 PM Those are some UGLY rims!
D MENAC 7 07-10-2004, 03:05 PM Those are some UGLY rims!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, same as ugly. I don't think they are ugly. They are OK. As you said about them, the pics just don't do them justice.
mysql101 07-10-2004, 03:09 PM I doubt my opinion matters much since you already bought the rims, but I don't care for the look either.
I like the tread pattern though.
IZoomZoomI 07-10-2004, 03:30 PM not really my style either, but they look light as hell so at least you got the functionality part. It probably looks a lot better in person. I give you much props for being original though at least you know you probably be the few if not the only one that has these rims ;)
\\Konig\\ 07-10-2004, 04:21 PM Well IMO those aren't the best looking rims for the 8. Maybe they do look different in person.
davefzr 07-10-2004, 05:24 PM Another picture.....
davefzr 07-10-2004, 05:29 PM I think they look hot.. The look I am going for is sporty.. I dont want anything on this car to shine or have some type of reflective surface....
To me.. sporty is the way to go....
davefzr 07-10-2004, 05:31 PM Nobody.. come on.. one person must like them :)
mysql101 07-10-2004, 05:32 PM I think they look hot.. The look I am going for is sporty.. I dont want anything on this car to shine or have some type of reflective surface....
To me.. sporty is the way to go....
I hate to be a smartass, but if you don't want anything on the car to shine or be reflective, you've got a lot of work to do on the paint... :)
odave 07-10-2004, 07:02 PM Are those 18" ?
poolsidenaz 07-10-2004, 07:13 PM Sorry man, that just isn't a look that I find attractive. But what matters is that you are happy with them. It's your cash and your car.
shelleys_man_06 07-10-2004, 07:36 PM How do the T1-S tires feel?
davefzr 07-10-2004, 09:28 PM Hey.. The tires feel awesome.. They dont seem to break away as the other tires did while trying to push them hard in a corner....
I got the 18X8 42offset wheels... They weigh in at a little over 17 pounds...
The 245's all the way around feel great too...
I cant wait to get on the track in a few months and test them out...
and it's cool if NOBODY haha.. likes them.. I think they are hot...
To each is own....
I think Japan8 and bassik277 liked them.... where are you?? help me out here.... this is one sided.. We need to get this tilted in the right direction here....
later..
rotaryxlr8 07-11-2004, 04:33 AM Just for the record, me no likey either. I have a velocity red 8 too and I've been seeing more and more of the staggered setups that seems to look a lot better. I went to Hot Import Days today in San Diego and took a picture of this red one in the show (forgive my lack of talent in the photo taking dept.). While the color scheme is the same as yours (dark inside with a polished lip), it definitely looked better in my opinion. See for yourself:
\\Konig\\ 07-11-2004, 12:43 PM now THOSE are nice rims
davefzr 07-11-2004, 04:06 PM nah.. I am not convinced.. I guess thats why I bought the ones I have.. haha.. :)
The only thing I like better about that picture is the fact that there is a smaller profile on the tire...
I actually like my rims better.... Guess I am just going for a different look.
But anyway.. guess this thread is over haha..
unless someoneeeeeeeeeeeeee.... says something positive haha...
cya..
sup3rbad 07-11-2004, 04:18 PM I like 'em. I prefer wheels with lips, but those look great for what they are. I'm looking for some lightweight wheels too, and i considered those for awhile. I guess I'm just sayin, not my style, but I like 'em.
davefzr 07-11-2004, 04:39 PM Yeah definitely.. I can say the same about that picture too... Like em.. but I like mine better... It's all about what you like and your preferences....
I thought for sure you guys would like them... I get gitty every time I look at them...
sup3rbad 07-11-2004, 05:05 PM I'd love to see them some time. San Dimas isn't too far from me. You plan on attending any meets?
evilbada1 07-11-2004, 05:29 PM those are ugly....
GooOnYou 07-11-2004, 06:16 PM I like them. Where did you get those dave?
Dick Carlson 07-11-2004, 06:26 PM Hey, I like them. Have you seen the wheels on line anywhere?
davefzr 07-11-2004, 06:48 PM I plan on attending a meet one of these days.. If I do.. it will probably be in the Orange County area I think.... somewhere around there..
If you want more information on these wheels and various other sources for purchasing them.. you can find it at the following link..

Happy riding guys!
AlexCisneros 07-11-2004, 08:40 PM I like them too Dave
Performance wise they should be much better than the stock and probably better than some of the more "bling" 19's ;)
picosrx8 07-11-2004, 08:50 PM I think gunmetal looks much better on gray or black. Im not crazy about the style either, but Im a classic style guy. They look great for the track though. Your money, enjoy them!
bassik277 07-13-2004, 01:20 AM Those look SWEEET!!! For the longest time i was considering selling my LE37t's for those. Dont stress about the few haters on here, because those are some awesome rims! Light, functional, and the split spoke design looks great. What width did you go with btw?
-Alex

Hey there! Yeah.. I absolutely love them.. I went with the 42mm offset. He said that there is enough clearance for a big brake kit and I am planning on getting the 355 from vivid in the stop tech.. I bet it would look sweet against the wheels with the red calipers....
Cant wait to get back on the the track with this setup... I should be braking at the last marker every time haha....
Later.....
GooOnYou 07-13-2004, 03:55 PM Now for the $10 million question....How does your car drive now with the lightened wheels?
davefzr 07-13-2004, 08:30 PM It is definitely lighter on it's feet. While driving I can tell there is a difference.. in fact, when I first picked up the car and drove it off the lot, I could notice the difference right away...
I really think it's because of the less weight.
My total weight savings with this setup gave me almost 8 pounds per corner. This made a significant change to how much effortless it is for steering input...
I guess the best way to describe it is wouldnt you be able to run faster.. jump higher.. change direction quicker with 8 pounds off your back? It really made that much difference...
After driving the car I am loving these tires... There is an on-ramp next to my place that I love taking. It's a 180 degree corner that you can take at around 45 mph. These tires just stick all the way through it. I end up at around 6,500 rpm at the end of the ramp and it just shoots up to 9,000 coming onto the freeway.. tons of fun....
later...
Japan8 07-14-2004, 02:56 AM Wel I like them. I thought the looked good on the Leg Motorsports car....
davefzr 07-14-2004, 01:13 PM Yeah... Ok.. so I am the SECOND.. person to have them :)
I saw that picture just last night as I was browsing through the bodywork threads....
Like the car except for the wing...
Ned M 07-14-2004, 08:00 PM I like those rims, too. I think they'd look good on my black FD.
Mr Marvel 07-14-2004, 08:17 PM Nice wheels Davefzr!
They look great!
davefzr 07-14-2004, 08:20 PM Thankx you guys!
I just called the people who I bought them from to see if there are any center caps available.... There is all this rust inside the center.... I guess if the center caps look ugly installed I could always clean off the rust and take them off...
They have to call Japan to see if any are available...
Japan8 07-15-2004, 10:58 AM I like those rims, too. I think they'd look good on my black FD.
Actually I saw a black FD the other day with a set of Racing Heart CR rims... looked REAL sharp.
Kel Rx8 07-15-2004, 11:24 AM davefzr i like them
im sure the japanesse guy's will to
looks like some of the wheels i have seen at those japan meets they have.
what size, offset ?
davefzr 07-15-2004, 12:55 PM Thankx! There is no swaying my opinion either about them.. I love em..
They are 18X8 with a 42 offset....
I just heard that Stop Tech is developing a 2 piston rear caliper that should be out within a few months... They are testing it on some race RX8 right now...
I want to get the front kit here pretty soon...
Probably in the 332.. 2500 is too much to spend on brakes I think for the larger size...
JonnyT 07-15-2004, 01:08 PM Not my favorite...but they look good enough. As has been said, what's important is that YOU like them. Enjoy!
swEEtRide 07-16-2004, 11:01 PM first off nice rims i personally would prefer chrome but like i said thats "my" own opinion but im shocked that no one else noticed that in the tread pic it seems to be that your 8 either had the AC on (hopefully) or your leaking something looks like oil to me.... i could be wrong just stating what i saw
takahashi 07-16-2004, 11:20 PM They look 18" ... they are not bad at all.. I like the wheel.
Why don't you paint the mazda logo or the rx-8 or even the mazdaspeed logo back on the centre of the wheel. Naked nuts does not look good.
The tyre is ok though... hard to get use to the aggressive look of the Toyos ;)
ONOFIVEO 08-06-2004, 04:14 PM I've been trying to find some wheels that look good on red, but I gotta tell you those don't. They would look great on blk, silver or ti gry, thogh.
davefzr 08-06-2004, 04:21 PM I think people like these wheels just as much as the split between dems and repubs.. I am cool with that though.. people like chrome wheels on the 8 and I think it's a mochery..
so what can you do.
shelleys_man_06 08-06-2004, 04:29 PM Those wheels are nice. It's a break from the normal 5-spoke and 6-spoke designs you usually see on RX-8's. Plus, you don't see Weds wheels everyday :). Keep lovin' your wheels davefzr.
