In the back of my mind, I'm thinking "This car is gonna be a flop" but in reality, should be a hit. Can you guys give me some reassurance that this car will be a hit and we will get another rx7 in the states. :D

View Full Version : I'm nervous about this car guys........ rx7 rage 03-17-2003, 12:39 PM In the back of my mind, I'm thinking "This car is gonna be a flop" but in reality, should be a hit. Can you guys give me some reassurance that this car will be a hit and we will get another rx7 in the states. :D cueball 03-17-2003, 01:05 PM Unfortunately the market is a fickle thing and with the economy the way it is nothing is a sure thing. On paper one would think the RX8 would do well and justify a RX7, but not everything works out. DTECH-RX 03-17-2003, 01:21 PM I agree with cueball on the points he mentioned, but if the pre-order response on this web site is any indication, the RX-8 should do quite well in helping to finance the return of the RX-7. :) m477 03-17-2003, 01:53 PM Let's see, - The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive - At NAIAS, it was a very popular car - Cheaper than its competitors ($4k less than equivalent g35c), and better fuel economy I think it'll sell. I plan on owning at least one FE platform car... Hercules 03-17-2003, 02:38 PM You also forgot.. More practical than an RX-7 was :) rxeightr 03-17-2003, 02:57 PM Personally, I believe you will have 50% of the buying public, (those that are interested in the ability to haul 4 adults with the Sports Car looks & feel) that will be climbing all over each other trying to get this car for themselves. The other 50% are going to take the 'wait & see' approach, mainly due to the Rotary engine (durability & economy), and the inherent 1st year bugs. As long as the RX-8 holds together, there is no reason for Mazda not to return the RX-7. The RX-8 does so well at being almost all things to almost all people, who are looking for a practical Sports car. wakeech 03-17-2003, 03:02 PM for Mazda to not sell their projected 16 000 units in 2003, i think they'd seriously have to actively discourage people from buying it. this car is a terribly excellent product, and with the right marketing (i don't care if it's cool or not: this paired with the Miata and the Zoom Zoom kid... ;) think about it) it will be a SELL OUT... i mean, this thing MIGHT be what turns the "cool car" factor around back from big piggy things back to sports cars... well, okay, it won't but a guy can always dream, can't he?? ;) |
