Haha my buddy bought one of these back when we were in 8th grade. the thing devoured batteries. Dumbest gaming system ever. What were there, like 5 games? This one even trumps nintendo's failure with the n64. Poor nintendo.

Yokoi, typically regarded as Nintendo's most accomplished engineer, was forced to resign thanks to the Virtual Boy debacle. A few years later he was hit by a car and killed, an event that quite possibly would not have occurred if not for the Virtual Boy's failure and his subsequent forced retirement. (The day of the tragedy, I imagine he would have been enjoying a relaxing lunch with Miyamoto, exchanging anecdotes about the SuperFX chip.) So, the Virtual Boy is not only a misbegotten mess of a game machine, it's a vicious and diabolical little thing that helped rob the world of the creator of Metroid and Kid Icarus. I mean, Jaguar sucked, but at least it didn't kill people.

oh geez, you saw that? it was with Fred Savage from the Wonder Years and the movie was called The Wizard...it was a terrible, TERRIBLE movie, but as a kid i saw it at least 20 times...this classic 80s movie was only eclipsed by Sylvester Stallone in the arm wrestling movie Over the Top...Lincoln Hawk was the man and the dad everyone wanted to have...i think

Beta, FWIW, was a superior technology to VHS, my stepfather owned a video store back when rental places came on back in the early 80's, back when VHS tapes cost about $70-$80.
However, due to Sony and their proprietary formats, as usual screwed themselves in the long run. Think minidisc.
At long last, Sony is releasing a mp3 player, which is hard drive based to compete with the iPod.

They're not. It only plays ATRAC.

"The NW-HD1's primary format is Sony's own ATRAC 3 Plus - other formats are converted to that mode when they're transferred over to the player."

Ugh. I'm ready for sony to proprietarially go out of business.

ATRAC is actually very good. The problem is their software completely blows, and the only 3rd party software available is real's media player.

dam I was a total geek back then I saw the wizard and over top a couple of time and even waited in line for 2 hours to see the first ninja turtles movie.......I even played at the universal studios competiton that they made to promote the wizard movie and almost one but tetris kicked my butt and got knocked out in the 4th round. Man to be that young again.
