I don't think I would have turned him in, even though I think it's VERY wrong to try and do what he did. Turning him in is not my job or responsibility and I think Suby would have caught him anyway. He doesn't seem too bright...

I'm confused by the people accusing "statman" of being a rat for turning in someone who outright admittedly committed fraud! Are we not suppose to notify the law when a crime is committed?

What about the woman who turned in this "Emmanual" dude for kidnapping the little girl in Utah? Is she a rat, too? She should be ashamed of herself!?!

I hope SOA presses charges.

Kids these days. Just slap on a turbo and just take off.

Look ma I'm going fast! Look ma I blew up my engine!:p

Street races are stupidest thing to do. Someone always end up paying for their own or others mistakes.

I'm all for what he statman did, I live in the seattle area, and twice in the last 2 weeks we've had major accidents where innocent drivers have been killed by stupid kids racing on the streets. There are a number of open race tracks in the area that cost virtually nothing to run on, but these A'holes decide to slam their cars into minivans killing children. I just wish there was a way to prosecute him for the street racing, so he could get his liscense revoked and we don't have to worry about this jerk on the raod anymore. Although with his strong moral fibre :( I'm sure losing his liscense would not keep him off the road anyways.

Either way, this belongs in the Lounge if anywhere... I'm going to go have a beer and relax now... I think i just aged a month.

Yeah I wouldn't have turned the kid in. I know lots of good people who'd do the same thing only because they can't afford new parts.

I just looked at his profile, the guy is only 18... but i guess we could have guessed that much...

EDIT: And apperently he owns a martial arts school... I'm sure he's a wonderful role model for the students.

Dumb-a$$ street racer over-modded his WRX, without having any clue what he was doing, tried racing some honda, blew up his engine (he had cranked up his boost without any fuel management) came to the forum for help, everyone told him to get a new engine and learn how to properly mod the car. The guy then put all his stock crap back on the busted a$$ car and took it back to the dealer to get them to fix it on warranty.

The first dealer turned him away, so he went to the second one. In the mean time, another forum member emailed a link to the thread on the forum to the subaru dealers in this guys area, so they all knew what to look for. So dealer number 2 turned him away. So of course the guy goes to dealer number 3 and they aggree to do the work if he signs an affidavit that he didn't modify his car, which of course he does. Then he goes on to have a childish temper tantrum on the forum.

On top of it all, a bunch of other ricers on the forum are berating the guy for emailing subaru, calling him a rat, which is just a stupid concept to begin with. I work VERY hard for this country and it pisses me off that I sacrifice so much to protect boneheads like these. grrrrr......

what would happen to this kid if Subaru does try to go after him?
it must suck to be that guy...blows his engine, then even more trouble with the law--double whammy.

i found it amusing that some of the guys on the impreza forum put up "owned" pics.

I aggree ... and as a dad of 2 future teenages ... life will always be interesting.

This link got me thinking if I would have also turned him in (not sure if I would, but would have liked too). I was glad to read that the dealership had questions of their own, without the e-mail that was sent to them!

Lucky no one got hurt, except the car and the kid's bank account. The sad thing is I don't believe that the "kid" learned the right lessons ...

6 pgs of very interesting reading!

I guess it was his stupid attitude on the forum which caused that statman guy to tell on him.

I hope there would be no rx-8 owner that would do something that stupid to their rx-8... OmG that's stupidity...

"Snitching" is what grade school kids do when someone steals your ho-hos.

When an adult commits a crime, it's not "snitching"!

The scary part is that he's in the market for a new car now. Hmm... around the same price, both are 'imports', both are sportscars... I think we may seem him show up as an RX-8 owner unfortunatly.

I would think it's more likely that he will go with Subaru's competitor, Mitsubishi, and try to get a Lancer Evolution.

I second that. The man is probably getting a LanEvo.

[....and then more modification....turbo boost, etc etc etc.]

I just can't comprehend the logic of anyone calling Statman a "snitch" regarding the WRX2FAST4U-ass! If you observe criminal behaviour it is your duty as a citizen to report it, it really is as simple as that. If I were to observe a murder and offered to witness, I would (by the same standard) also be a "snitch"... But I promise you, I'd be sleeping all the better for it!

The kid atempted fraud, someone observed it, did the right thing and reported the fraud to the proper authority - that's it and that's that!

Cheers

Eske
