For those who did went to rotor fest, I’m I wrong saying that there was fraud counting the votes for best of show, when the car that won best of show was the 2nd winner in it's class and all of the sudden he won best of show, I thing went you are selecting best of show at a car show, you supposed to select all the 1st place winners and then between then you select best of show, not 2nd place winner, that was bull sh*t, but since they were running the joint of course there car is going to wing best of show, not to mention that there was nobody crazy about that car, everybody was impressed with Acosta 3 rotor rx-8, and they didn't win best of show, but yet they won it at sema auto show.

I need some explanation..

We need better grammar. I think I could understand what you're saying but I'm not positive. Repeat after me: run-on sentences are bad.

is English your native language?

Does the winner of BOS at Rotorfest get anything big - like a money prize, or a car or trip?

Well, ususally they don't bother rigging the show if the prize isn't worth the effort you know.... I heard it was just a tshirt or something similar.

Actually I could make a case that the less important the prize the more lax judging can get. I've judged non-car events and when the venue was small we leaned more towards a "everyone wins a prize" mentality.

There's also the "everyone knows that's the best so they don't need a prize" viewpoint. Tarantino has a great story about that for Reservoir Dogs where that movie had the hottest buzz at Sundance but didn't win best picture. The judges reason? "Well, everyone knows your movie is going to be a hit so you don't need our award as well."

I used to run a car show.

We chose best of show by walking around and going, damn I like that one . . . Boom, best of show. Hell, we once chose a rusty Pontiac just because it was rare, one owner, and all original including the paint which is an interesting case of preservation over restoration, which can be surprising at a classic car show.

Anyhoo, what I am really saying here is that Best of Show is usually chosen to EXCLUDE cars which have already won a prize, and it looks for the sleeper car that has alot of merit, but it isn't as flashy as the prize winners. Sometimes it goes to class winner. Sometimes it goes to the rusty Pontiac. That's the beauty of judged classes. Then again they might use some objective standard. How the hell would I know, and who cares. It's just a prize, and I bet that the guy who won Best of Show was really happy with his plaque.

I think that the regular catagory winners are selected by a panel of judges but the "best of Show may have been a "peoples choice" kind of thing where the people attending the show selected the winner by ballot.

It was done by attendee ballot, how it was possible for Jay to win has been explained over at the Rx7club.com in the Northeast section--and it makes complete sense. If I hadn't just read Elara's updated rules I might try to engage in a flame war. I am tired of seeing a guy who put in a lot of effort to bring the rotary community together get blasted in threads for what amounts to little, petty crap and have to deal with real issues that some of our #^^$%&8 fellow rotary owners did (smash a sink and trash a bathroom, dial 911 on a public phone, do burnouts when they expressly forbidden). Makes me not want to get involved in organizing anything for this community.

Holy crap. That was the longest run-on sentence I've ever read!

There's enough Rotorfest bashing over at the RX-7 forum. What's the point in starting here too? Are you really so concerned about something that happened at a car show? This is not life and death we're talking about. I suggest that if you have some big issue with the way it was run, you talk to the person who organized the event to begin with. Though this post smacks of sour apples to me.

For those who did NOT GO to rotorfest, I WANT TO SAY that there was a fraud IN counting the votes for best of show. THE car that won best of show, was the second winner in its' class and YET he won best of show. I ... ack nm, I was going to re-write this guy's post so people can understand it better, but it's giving me a headache and now I'm constipated. Sometimes I really think there should be a literacy test for driving, otherwise how will they ever understand road directions. ACK.
