What's the stock brake pad thickness for new front and read pads please?

I noticed only my passenger side front and rear inside pads have wear indicators (screechers) on them - is that right? I expected both driver's and passenger's side inside pads to have them.

What's the opinion on greasing the rear pad backs and shims to silence sqealing? The service manual does not say to do that for the rear pads as it does for the front pads.

It looks like about 7/16" or 11mm. My fronts measured about 9.5 mm after 9k miles - so I estimate about I'll get 53 k miles from the front set at my current wear rate.

What's the pad on the right side of your picture? And I've gotta' ask - what are you doing with an extra set of pads on your desk already?

Now I need the rear pad thickness.

Ok, the other side of my tape measure had Centimeters; the pad on the right is for the rear disc. I was going to go to Watkins Glen, New York (race track) for a performance driving class and they recommended you bring an extra set of brake pads in case you wear down yours too much to get back home. Since I will use them sooner or later anyway I ordered a set and they arrived last week. Been sitting on my desk, just haven’t taken them out to the garage. Turns out the company canceled to event do to lack of participates and I am not going anyway.

Thanks for the mm picture. I'm getting different values between the two pictures. I'm just interested in the thickness of the pad material, not the metal backs.

Could you please measure them and tell me if you get front = 13mm and rear = 11mm ?

How much did the pads run you and where'd you get them? PM me if you prefer.

If you plan on replacing/checking them yourself, you'll need a 14mm socket and a 17mm open end wrench for the fronts (my Craftsman 17mm wrench was too wide - I lucked out and my thinner no-name brand fit). The rears only required the 14mm socket.

I'm trying to stop my brakes from squealing, so I put synthetic caliper grease on all the shims and pad back areas that touches the pistons and calipers. The squealing has been reduced, but this may be due to me washing the dust off the pads when I had them off.

I don't know if this helps any, but the Hawk web site shows a pad thickness of .643" for the front and .565" for the rear. This is approximately 16.3mm and 14.4mm f/r.

Edit: From looking at the pics above, those numbers must include the backing plates. Sorry, I tried.

rear: 9mm
