View Full Version : why NO RX8's at ROTORFEST ????
vosko 06-28-2004, 11:01 AM there was about 12???? i think there might be more than 12 in the tristate area. that was a pretty sad showing for them since there were about 40-50 FD's and we know how reliable they are !!!!
you guys better show up next year!
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-28-2004, 12:23 PM Hi, the rx-8 tri state club is not here right now, but if you leave a message at the sound of the tone, we will get right back to you...beep!...
:-)
affenage 06-28-2004, 12:25 PM overslept, sorry.
next year!
Sue
NAVILESRX8 06-28-2004, 12:29 PM Vosko, I was going to go, but I can only afford one trip to NJ....I'll be at E-town for this month's DOW.....

That's pretty rude, don't you think? There are a lot more 7 owners out there than 8 owners, and not everyone has time to gather up all their stuff and trudge up there. I was waiting for the 2nd annual East Coast RX-8 meet(since canceled- hopefully we'l find somewhere else to have it), since I can't afford to go to more than one or two events a year unless I don't want a real vacation.
Outlaws eXtreme 06-28-2004, 03:05 PM Besides, it's only a "car" meet... why does vosko have to be rude about it. I mean, there are OTHER things in life than to meet up with other people that drive the same car. It's nice and all... but life does not revolve around just Rotary.

z00m-z00m 06-28-2004, 03:16 PM hehehe love the east coast, im glad im on the west coast. /me sends some old skule chill pills vosko's way :D
Shocka 06-28-2004, 04:05 PM i was in vegas this weekend
ACOSTARACING 06-28-2004, 05:01 PM we were at rotorfest. it was alright
Senseny 06-28-2004, 06:15 PM Vosko, I think Irish was just kidding about our club being underrepresented, and he was pretending to be avoiding the "phone call" asking why. Several of us planned on coming and backed out at the last moment, due to whatever. I will speak for Irish when I say that we wanted to have a bigger presence than we did. Like I said on the 7club, "I hope to make it next year". Maybe with both cars finally.
r0tor 06-28-2004, 06:27 PM damn i was planning on going... i thought it was the end of july, not the end of june :(
Kel Rx8 06-28-2004, 08:52 PM a couple of us from the tristate rx8 club made it
i did expect a bigger rx8 turnout , but in time.
p.s i got toasted :) forgot my sun tan lotion.
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-28-2004, 10:39 PM Vosko, yes, I think you took my 'irish' humor alittle personal. We care, we care alot, but there are indeed many other events out there that are just as good ( not knocking Rotorfest since we helped advertise the event on our site ). Perhaps RX-8 owners were not ready to show their RX-8s due to lack of modifications or plain and simple ' other responsibilities' came first . Next year I am confident more will be seen....give it time..
All the best
Wayne
w2aew 06-28-2004, 11:18 PM I was another one that was "hoping" to go, but I was out of town during the weekend.
h0rde 06-29-2004, 11:11 AM I was there, and I was surprised how few 8's did turn out. I think what Irish said about most of us not having any significant mods probably stopped some people from going, but it shouldn't. Really, the Acosta guys were the only ones with a seriously modded 8 but we all knew what they had beforehand anyway. Hopefully there will be another meet next year, apparently some brain surgeons did some stupid crap and Jay (organiser) is pretty upset.
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-29-2004, 02:38 PM What happened Horde?
Senseny 06-29-2004, 02:55 PM Irish, go over to the NE section of the rx7club and see the multiple threads about rotorfest. The posts are just about as close to internet fistfighting as you can get. Someone messed up a bathroom, someone dialed 911 on a pay phone, and burnouts were done. Real immature shi* going on in the threads as well. It is definitely enough to make me think twice about organizing any event big enough to have to sign or pay for beforehand (which I was hoping we get big enough to do someday).
titaniumgrey 06-29-2004, 02:57 PM my car was in the shop ... was about to go tho ...

Sense-

I just got done reading the seven forum, and man, I am shocked with the goings on there. Dont think I have ever seen/heard such a thing. It honestly has made me also think twice about holding future events - but saying this, we can learn from the experience and make sure that next time more cautions are made. Part of me really regreted not making Rotorfest, but after reading everything, I am now not too sure...

h0rde 06-30-2004, 01:08 AM well regardless of what went on, i did take pics so you guys can check them out here.

Senseny 06-30-2004, 02:20 AM Irish and Affenage, I think we can learn from these unfortunate incidents (and flame wars that come about as close to fist fights as can be) and avoid them in the future. I think we still can work with our brethren in the earlier rotaries, we will just need to stay aware and alert in our meets that include both groups (at least until peace is declared amongst several different parties) and post expectations. Although fist fights may be entertaining, I don't want anyone bumping into my cars and denting them. J/K of course.
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-30-2004, 02:19 PM Great pics Horde! Polak is in them all..:-)
Agreed Senseny..it will all die down eventually, staying alert might be a good thing :-)
Broke_Apex_Seal 06-30-2004, 02:29 PM Dont bust Voskos balls. He is just stating that with all the 8 sales and as many owners there are on here you would think more would show up! I was going to go but I was doing a single turbo conversion on a Auto FD;) .And FD3Boost did not go and we were sharing a room.
Kel Rx8 06-30-2004, 07:51 PM i dont think anyone is "busting balls"
dont make this a flame war
great pixs horde
sorry i didnt get a chance to say goodbye
h0rde 06-30-2004, 11:19 PM no worries man, i'll probably be at the tri state meet in king of prussia.
vosko 07-01-2004, 10:27 PM i don't know
i just figured most people would think like me. you wanna show off how much you like the you goto the biggest event and have more cars than EVERYONE else.
anyone who knows me. i like to go big or go home.......with a broken car :D
i use that motto with anything. heck i think i personally know more people with rx8's than how many actually showed up. i'm not trying to knock you guys but do you look at the pictures there were ALOT of stock rx7's there ;)
anyway hope to see more enthusiasm from people and yes even rikki knows me :D
Senseny 07-01-2004, 11:47 PM Vosko, we all really do hope there are more 8's at the next one. Do you know what Jay is thinking about for next year?

as far as i know Jay's had it with rotorfest, unless he changes his mind, which is possible. The forums at nopistons and rx7club both have threads where he was basically saying anyone who wants rotorfest can have it, but hopefully he'll reconsider.

They're as reliable as the treatment they recieve from their owner, I'm surprised to see such a comment coming from a fellow rotorhead. It's bad enough that we have to fight this stigma with the piston heads, but now from the RX8 community too?

i agree its about maintenance but its also about design! a 10 year old car that had headaches when it was new is bound to have even more. heck i owned one but i knew what i was getting into before hand......sort of! i still want another one but anyone who says they are reliable well that is like hitting the lottery. all the guys i have know for years with them have spent lots of money on upkeep and repairs and they work great but again you don't have the money you wont' have a reliable car. this is not a 2nd gen N/A that will just go forever and eventually maybe have just a bad coolant seal. so many things to go wrong but when they are going right........its awesome to say the least. i didn't say that at all to put down the 3rd gen but again i will not lie. even the rx8's are having some problems. this is not about any of that i merely said that to prove a point. it is much easier to drive a brand new car 4 hours to a show than worry about your 10 year old car... luckily at rotorfest 99% of the cars make it there and back home :)
NAVILESRX8 07-02-2004, 10:59 PM Vosko...you can't win with these guys....let it go....See you at DOW14....
BlueAngel 07-03-2004, 12:34 PM Englishtown,anyone???
Kel Rx8 07-03-2004, 05:58 PM i think this will be the 1st event i wont make it on sunday.
MazdaManiac 07-09-2004, 08:01 PM I even paid my entrance fee and still didn't go.
Two days before the event I got booked to work that weekend. That has only happened to me twice in 20 years. I was pissed.
