Long time lurker, second time poster.

I will be getting a Rx-8 around Dec time frame hopefully. Leaning towards a loaded (no nav) silver one w/ red/black leather.

Owned 3 Rx-7's before and several other sports cars. Had a 81 GS which was T-Boned and totaled. Had an 85 GSL-SE slightly modified which I sold due to a deal I was getting on a 944. Traded the 944 on a 93 R1 when they were introduced. What a blast the R1 was :p. It was hit by a truck while I was sitting in traffic. It survived... But after I recovered and delt with the hassles of getting it repaired I sold it though. Put 20k fun filled miles on it though.

The Rx-8 will be for the wife and me both to drive so I'm pleased that the new version isn't the race car disguised as a street car like the previous version. Happy it has 2 rear seats as well as a 2 seater would be too impractical for us.

We're leaning towards a silver GT 6 speed (no nav) with red/black leather.

A question....

I'm 6'4" and 210 lbs w/ 36 inch legs. I barely fit in the 93 and had to sit in it for an hour before I could do the deal. Later I would find that I would get spasms in my right shin muscle after driving for more than an hour. Anyone my size or larger tried to sit in an Rx-8? Should I expect more room than the 93? It will kill the deal for me if I can't find more room then the 93...

We had some really tall folks say the car was just fine for above average people, but the rear seat loses legroom as a result of a taller driver being in front.

But that's the case with nearly every car :) Worse in sports cars however.

the new april issue of automobile has some leg room stats check it out! welcome aboard:)

here's some stats posted by stephenf to get you thru until you can get the mag:

Here are some highlights:
- More shoulder room up front than the 330
- same head room up front as the 330
- more legroom in front than the Z
- briefly said that they liked the interior
- an inch less shoulder and head room in back than the 330
- 2 inches less leg room in back than the 330 (but they comment about the ability to stick your feet under the front seat).
- "bit more" rear leg room than a IS300 sedan.
- says full size passengers can live back there for about an hour, but it's "damn claustrophobic"
- "is there any engine that revs as sweetly as this?"
- "as the tach needle swings around the dial, and the rising swell of power is tremendously exhilarating"

Thanks.. I'm a lot less worried now. Leg room for me has been a curse (or blessing, it depends on your view). For example I can't fit in a 911/993 haven't tried the 996.. I call this a curse.. wife calls it a blessing :p
