View Full Version : RX-8 TRI CLUB 1st SUMMER MEET - JULY 17th, KING OF PRUSSIA PA
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-21-2004, 10:37 AM Hey folks
Next meet info :
RX-8 Tri Club Meet
Saturday July 17th 2004
1PM - VALLEY FORGE, KING OF PRUSSIA PA
HAZE Writes : ".... meeting at the Artillery Park parking lot. (I don't know if it is actually called the "Artillery Park"), but it is where the line of cannon are kept. The parking lot has about four or five picnic tables, a bathroom, a nice view and a lawn to spread out blankets on. The tables are under trees to protect people from the sun, and they are right next to the parking lot. It is a good sized parking lot, and it was not too crowded . The lots in the park are often very crowded so I was looking for something just a little bit off the beaten track."
Similar to the last meet, and weather dependant, it may be a good idea to take along snacks. Picnic tables are available, and people should be encouraged to bring blankets in case the tables are taken. There is plenty of room spread out!."
Dependant on weather, it will be the clubs first summer meet. We hope to see you there! Relax, have fun, and most importantly get to know new folks and their RX-8s. As normal, club stickers, t-shirts, decals will be available!
More info and directions on the club site ( click link below ) or feel free to email!

All the very best and hope to see some new faces!!
Thanks to HAZE for picking this spot!

Senseny 06-21-2004, 06:47 PM It looks good for me. Can't wait to say hi to everyone.
TPNova1 06-21-2004, 07:52 PM Nice...... let's continue to pray for nice weather, but not as hot as last meet!!!! :)
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-22-2004, 10:03 AM Yeah, those 90 plus temps. were quite insane. Its probably why everyone left so early.
Feras 06-22-2004, 03:47 PM nice ill try to be there
flatso 06-22-2004, 04:05 PM how far is that from Woodbridge NJ?
thanks in advance
Irish_in_a_RX8 06-22-2004, 04:11 PM From woodbridge NJ on mapquest, 80 miles/ 75 mins...however you could make a day of it since its right next to the 2nd largest shopping mall in the US
affenage 06-22-2004, 07:09 PM KofP is the second largest? wow I never would have known that!
When it gets closer, I may volunteer to pick up some organized food - like deli sandwich or something. Sound ok - or are people happier with the un-orgaqnized snack thing??
(hey Otto LOVED the fruit salad that I didn't bring!)
Kel Rx8 06-23-2004, 01:16 AM im gonna try and make it also
family might go to italy on vacation.we will see.

Apparently the second largest ( 3rd hand info ) certainly feels like it after walking around all day.
I think we should decide on snacks food closer to the date so we can be sure of the weather...but I would be up for anything at this point.
Thanks Sue!

Irish_in_a_RX8 06-28-2004, 10:23 PM Its a great place for the ladies who may not be into the car thing tony - Valley Forge is a huge park. The surrounding area is pretty cool too! It will be a great backdrop for photos - looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Irish_in_a_RX8 07-12-2004, 10:30 AM My other job is forecasting the weather (kidding) Saturday looks good so far, lets keep each other updated this week. If we have to cancel, I'll send out an email this Friday. Lets hope this will be the 6th weekend in a row for sunshine. Last year we had just 20 days of sun!!
TPNova1 07-12-2004, 11:35 PM Well, so glad to see the club is increasing! Looks like as long as the sun holds, we'll have a nice turnout. My custom stereo install is on track to be done Friday, so hopefully I'll make it; otherwise I'll be at the Beach. ......:) I dont know if thats good or bad in this situation. Hmmm...RX-8 ready to go, or no RX-8 but the beach all weekend......which one would I really want....I havn't really driven her in almost 3 weeks!
h0rde 07-14-2004, 05:47 PM Could somebody give me an address of the place or something nearby it so I can get some directions?
Well, it's a parking area in Valley Forge National Park so there really isn't an address. There are directions at the Tri-State RX 8 club web page, which you can get to if you click on the banner in Irish-in-an-rx8's post just above. He has also posted a link to the directions in the first post in this thread.
There is a shopping center near the park that you can use to help you get to the entrance to the park from which the directions posted above will help you. It's the Gateway Shopping Center, and if you are mapquesting, you can use the Valley Forge Brewing Company, 267 East Swedesford Road, Wayne, PA, to get you close to the entrance of the park.
However, if you tell me where you are coming from, I can work you up some more specific directions from whereever you are if you need them. Feel free to PM me or Irish if you need anything more specific. All the best and do get hold of me because the more the merrier at the meet!
affenage 07-14-2004, 10:26 PM So, anyone up for food? Thought I'd bring a deli platter and sandwhich fixings. If someone wants to volunteer to dothe plates/napkins/cups and a bumch of 2liter bottles of something.. we'd actually have LUNCH. My guess is I'd probably ask for at most $2-3.00
I'm planning on making quacamole with chips and bring a couple of 2 litres of soda. I thought that that would be fun. I hope that the weather is good on Saturday, and I look forward to seeing everybody there! - H

Thats very thoughtfull of you Sue! I think most would appreciate it and chip in. I'll bring some plates along and napkins ( well most probably a roll of paper towels ) I'll also take along some ice for the soda.
Lookforward to the day!!

,Jer
Congrats on the new car! We hope to see you at a meet soon.
affenage 07-15-2004, 06:53 PM Hey - 30% chance of a passing storm - the kind that blow in and blow out. I think given the weather this summer, so far, that is a pretty positive forecast! (think tornadoes out in Harrisburg and 12" in South Jersey... ) :)
What time are you posting the official go/no go decision??
TPNova1 07-15-2004, 11:43 PM well, sorry fellas, --and ladies- I cannot attend this one:( I'm upset, but I'll be at the beach to make me feel better :) Good Luck, glad to see a great turnout forcasted already! -TIM
Irish_in_a_RX8 07-16-2004, 12:41 PM Its a go for tommorrow. Slight chance of a shower, but towards PM time. Hopefully we will be lucky...see you all there!!
