i know its been discussed throughout various threads, but thought itd be helpful to have a consolidated one (sticky?) im interested in obviously the brand, size and also if itd fit on stock rims

 

Yes, it's been discussed extensively before - many detailed and consolidated threads, with sizes and appropriate wheels if using 17". Sorry, I recommend you do your own homework - a search for 'winter tire' and 'winter wheel' will find you all the details you want. Maybe in September we'll consider a winter tire sticky thread!!

I don't think a sticky is needed. I found all the info I needed using a search.
My local dealers know little about the car, and many local aftermarket wheel/tire dealers are in the same boat.
Very disappointing.
However what is needed is possibly another group buy on the frd 30 wheels/toyo garrit tires.
The guy at Talon seems to know what he is talking about, has done the homework and should be given the business.
Is it too early for a group buy yet? Should I get the ball rolling or has someone else got it covered?

 

Talon seems the best option out there. A part from a group buy, it would also be interesting to know when is the best time to order winter tires. I tried last January and nobody had winter tires at a decent price.

 

i was at the mazda rev it up tour last month and all tires they had on the 8's, as well as the 3's and 6's were all falkan tires.. those tires had some excellent grip from what i've felt..

 

I went to several tire dealers. None had any winter tires or prices yet. They all thought I was crazy for worrying about winter tires in June.
September is too close for my comfort to wait to order. I would like to have my ducks in order well before winter.
I might add I live in the middle of Canada in Winnipeg. Winter can come real early and real quick here.
By mid August I will contact Talon tire and get the ball rolling for possibly another group buy on whatever tire/wheel they suggest.

 

I spoke with someone at TireRack, and I was told that they won't have much of their stock in until late August. It looks like we don't have much of a choice as far as when we can get our winter wheel/tire packages. Does TalonTire ship to the US?

I feel a sticky would be very helpful for people considering wheel & tire packages especially, because appearance is a major concern. I started a thread a while back containing pictures of installed winter wheel and tire packages.

Having one thread with all of this information (including images) would help so many people. What I had started to do before making the thread was to search through dozens of threads, save pictures and descriptions to my hard drive, then compile everything in a Word document. What a pain!

And one extra important note: according to the webmaster, the search database might need to be reconstructed. Go ahead and try searching for one of your old threads in the "Wheels, Tires, and Suspension" forum--the search feature is basically useless at this point in time. So instead of just telling somone to do his/her own search, it might be more helpful to provide links to some related threads (if you can find them now!).
