View Full Version : Nice Cops??
Morgan 06-18-2004, 02:15 AM With the exception of my "husband," i didn't think there were nice cops IN uniform..outside is a whole other story.
I'm part of a UF motorsports club, and we meet at a garage on campus every thrus. This is the second week one of UPD has come out. She's about 5'4 @ 110 LBS. Tiny little thing..she's as sweet as can be. She's into cars as well, so on her shift she comes and hangs out with us. The first time she came out on a call but once she found out who we were she was cool with us. I was talking to her tonight and she goes, "the first time i came out here, i thought it was some kind of gang...then i saw you..the one girl out here with all these guys and thought to myself, 'maybe it's a gang bang?'" I couldn't stop laughing at her. She was totally cool!
I've NEVER heard a cop swear or anything, but every other word out of her mouth was something uh..not "appropriate."It was entertaining...and to top it all off, she's getting us a list of statues so we know what we can and cant get pulled over for.. it's so awsome!!!! And if a select few of us *basically me and like 4 of the guys* ever get pulled over by UPD, we can get out of the ticket by saying we know her and she'll back us up..:D
Oh yea..and there is a "security guard" too..he's equally as awsome. We were "driving at the limit" tonight to the top of the garage and he got called. when he came up he just sat there and talked to us about the car we were towing and was like..."i dont really care..i'm off shift in 15...y'all have fun!"
Feras 06-18-2004, 08:27 AM my only encounters with police so far were 75% on the nice side. twice they were extremely helpful in accidents that i was in, and once they investigated an electrical problem behind my house (fire hazard) and were really good about it. I just ran into a state trooper once who was a jerk, i was going 71 in a 65 zone and he didn't give me a speeding ticket but a failure to obey signs ticket...damn loophole but knock on wood that my only speeding ticket (technically not a speeding ticket) will be my last.
But yeah cops are good people and i especially respect the great majority of them that are wholly interested in justice, upholding the law and most of all serving and protecting the community, i think the stigma of bad cops comes from the corrupt power hungry minority (really small minority), and that really takes away from the ones who really do care about what they do.

Oh yeah...that's what I sound like an hour before the end of my shift. He's my hero...hahaha. :D
HiTMaNN 06-18-2004, 01:10 PM good cops... ha how come ive never met any.. the only time i got pulled over he didnt give me a ticket there was no reason he asked if i had stolen the car because he heard over the radio there was one like my 8 that was stolen he didnt even acknowledge me and when he checked everything he didnt even say sorry just handed and said bye
so cops mostly suck!
Blue_Chameleon 06-18-2004, 02:05 PM You know, when I was younger, I was always "harrassed" by cops. I got tickets and all that stuff too. I wasn't too fond of 'cops' in general. It wasn't until when I was in my early 20s that I started to understand that not all cops are jackasses.
So, once I figured that out, I began to explore that 'dark side' and just trying to figure out what the heck these guys do and what they're all about. Lo and behold, I ended up joining :)
Oh well....to each their own
HiTMaNN 06-18-2004, 02:10 PM do you even cock your gun?
Feras 06-18-2004, 02:52 PM i think the term public servant applies here and thats how i see the police.

where do i sign up? ;)
Yes, cops are human too.
Except for the one that pulled me over for going 30 in a 25 at 3am, and had the audacity to give me a drunk test, saying I was "speeding".
TownDrunk 06-18-2004, 03:24 PM The cops I know are really cool, at least outside of work. I've never had to deal with them under other circumstances.
wakeech 06-18-2004, 03:44 PM yeah, all the cops i've never met have been nice. i've never been cited for a moving violation ever (but have had a few parking tickets... dammit).
even goin' on the freeway, especially late at night going +30kph over the posted limit, i just pass 'em right on by, as long as you demonstrate that you're competant and being safe (driving in the right lane, signalling with plenty of time and making a smooth lane change, then moving back into the driving lane after a safe distance).
i think cops are great people.
HiTMaNN 06-18-2004, 03:46 PM ok drew i dont think there any vancouver cops here so dont kiss ass to hard :D
I had one bad experience with a cop. It was when I was in highschool and out driving with my friend Adam (who was driving) helping me get applications at various jobs. Anyway, we're driving down the highway when all of a sudden a cop pulls us over, so we pulled into the gas station. He comes up and asks my friend for license, reg. etc.. and then looks at them for a second. He then tells Adam to step out of his car. As soon as he does, the cop says, "Keep your hands outta your pockets!" So he keeps his hands in the air.
The cop comes to MY side and asks for my ID:
Me: "I don't have one yet."
Cop: "Where are you going?"
Me: "I'm out looking for a job with my friend"
Cop: "Why don't you have a driver's license?"
Me: "I don't have a car yet.."
Cop: "Why don't you have a car?"
Me: "........"
Cop: "How do you expect to get a job without a license?"
Me: "If I need one, I'll get an ID"
etc. with some more meaningless questions.. then finally
Cop: "How do you know him?"
Me: "Umm.. he's my friend.."
Anyway he finally lets my friend back in the car, goes into his car for about 10 min, and then finally comes back out to us. He FINALLY says: "Make sure to signal 100 ft before changing lanes."
..........
greyhound 06-18-2004, 06:10 PM Around here (Maryland burbs) it's a mixed bag. I've met some cops that were really cool, and others that were extreme jackasses. One time I actually got pulled over for driving 62 mph on the DC beltway! (Those of you who have driven the DC beltway will understand how absurd that is.) The guy also gave me a repair warning about a tiny little crack in my windshield, and cited me for not wearing my seatbelt, even though I actually had JUST taken it off to reach into the glove box for my registration. What an ass.
got a ticket last week for not comming to a complete stop at a stop sign. This is what happened it was 2:00 pm i went to the stop sign and stoped well it was on a incline so when i let go of the break i rolled and steped on the gas. Th cop said i ran through the stop sign and said i hate punk kids like you. Well i have a lawyer and im going to court on july 12 wish me luck.
