It seems that recently, as the release of the RX-8 draws near, the quality of this site is stooping to the level of some "other" sites. Now that some car mag comparos are coming out, we seem to be getting a lot of tolls, and silly comparisons etc...

I for one, could care less about car comparisons. I only care about the actual car I am buying. I could care less if the RX-8 does 0-60 in xxx, or the slalom in xxxx, but the G35 can do it in xxxx, who the hell cares!!!!!!!

So many of these damn boards degrade in to childish name calling, immature, ridiculous conversations that hold no value whatsoever!!!

Let's all try and keep our eye on the ball here...and simply do what this site is meant to do...celebrate and discuss and learn more about the upcoming RX-8. A lot of the charm of this site was that it was devoid of most of the childish crap you see on other boards....let's try and keep it that way.

Like my mom always said when my brother would be annoying the hell out of me....just ignore him and he'll go away :D

A-MEN to that.

I was about to buy a WRX So I would check out their board (i-club). Those people there are allways flaming others. This board has been the best I have seen. I have learned tons of stuff on the RX-8 and I find my self wanting to check the board all the time because the people here are very cool and dont try to make you look stupid when you dont' know what you are talking about. I have noticed the recent trend of negativity toward the RX-8's Torgue. I am hopeing that will end when the car hits the shores. Remember guys this is not a racecar. It does have 4 doors

I agree, through all the bickering and comparisons and brand dedication, this site has lost a lot of its allure in terms of information and intelligent discussions.

I do understand that some of this has to do with people from other forums coming here to start trouble. But if that was the case, those threads should have no responses.

If I have learned anything from the Car and Driver forums is that talking to a troll is lengthening the time his thread remains active.

If there is a troll, or just someone who has a different opinion, do no try to educate him, do not spell it out for him, just leave his thread for the chipper that awaits every inactive thread at the bottom of the forum.

Ok, round two, lets keep it clean here people!! :p

Hey, tallguylehigh, let's get Shaman over here to really stir things up. Whadd'ya say? :D

I'm sorry, but Shaman would not make it to this forum... the RX-8 is not a sports car :p

It's funny because with a car like the RX-8, I know smoke is coming out of his ears trying to figure out what the heck this car is.

Viva innovation!!!

I think the quality of threads and conversation will drastically improve once people actually receive there cars. Until then there is quite a bit of angst, passion, and tempers as people try to defend something they haven't experienced first-hand.

The problem is lack of information. We've run out of things to talk about unless a new magazine or TV review occurs. Too many opinions and not enough data. In July this will change!

In order for this site to not degenerate into a my350z or supraforums flame-a-thon, people who engage in personal attacks and obvious trolling need to get immeadiately banned. Period.

Yes this site is probably the best, least childish forums I have been to and I hope it stays this way!:)

I've no patience for people that COME here starting fights and arguements and then contribute nothing to the site. I've got a name in mind.

This is the best way to get rid of trolls- just don't feed them and they'll go away. Thanks for the great post, MattZ!

Yes this site is probably the best, least childish forums I have been to and I hope it stays this way! Agreed. House-cleaning will occur as needed. Free opinion is encouraged on any car or valid lounge topic, but flamage will be dealt with accordingly.

Flame: personally insulting remarks, and flaming a car is nothing that we should get too worked up about, despite how much we love the car.

if they are misinformed, or are unconvinced, let us calmly convince them... we know the merits and tradeoffs of the car. if they simply do not like them, then fine: all the whining in the world will not change that.
but, if they are rock-headed ignorami, let's just leave them alone and not waste our time.
... at present, i don't think there are any rock-headed ignorami in our midst. let's just be calm, and talk about things (the reason this board is here).

I'm glad to hear there are some people that have this same opinion as I do about keeping good content on this forum.

I frequently visit the RX-7 forum, and the content there is not moderated well enough. There are so many people on that forum that post the stupidest shit......I can barely stand to look at it anymore. It was not like that years ago when I first got my RX-7.

There is constant flaming about topics that are either totally trivial, or have nothing at all to do with RX-7's. I think part of the reason for that forum going downhill is the that the maturity level of RX-7 owners has dropped off due to the fact that these cars have gone down enough in value that the majority of owners are now high school age or slightly older. Not that all high school age guys are a bunch of bickering idiots, but it seems like most of them that start the shit over there are these 15 year old kids who don't even have a damn driver's license yet!!

That forum has provided me a wealth of information about rotaries and RX-7's in general. I at least take comfort in knowing that if I have a problem with my RX-7 that I can't figure out, I will have an answer by doing a search on there within minutes. I might just have to weed through some major junk posts first to find what I am looking for.

I hope the moderators of this forum remain somewhat strict about what posts are pertinent to the content expected on this forum, and put an immediate stop to those who try to abuse it. I have run across a couple of the flaming posts on here that Hercules has seemed to "extingush". Keep up the good work Hercules!! There are many of us who greatly appreciate your determination to keep this forum from turning into the Jerry Springer show.

:) There is still valuable info on the 7 forum, especially in the model-specific areas. I'm there daily. An overall good rule of thumb to use is if the post would offend your mother, it's "probably" unacceptable but exceptions can be made within the TOS rules and may depend on your mom also. :D

I agree that the 7 forum contains a ton of valuable info and hope that this forum will grow to match that someday. I would be somewhat ignorant about the rotary if it was not for that forum.

It's not really the offensive material on that forum......not much offends me......it is just all of the insignificant posts that are there and all of the arguing and bitching back and forth about nothing. The "post-whoring" is also unbelievable. It's such a pain in the ass having to read through all of the crap to find a post with some meaningful information. There are so many members on that forum who feel inclined to add some 2 word response to every post. Making each post a mile long with about 2 sentences of meaningful info.

I just hope the mods of this forum do not let that happen.

There's a night and day difference coming here from the relatively inane vtec dot net forums where everybody wants to start an argument over nothing...

yeah, i really dont wanna see this site turn into some trash-bag online hangout. The reason i was even attracted to this forum was because the conversation seemed quite mature, and generally is. But lately its degraded into a bunch of yelling and whining and "i know what you are, but what am i?" level conversations. True, this isnt every thread, but it is enough to make visiting the forum a junky expeirience.

thats so true wakee.
This forum is probably the best forum i've seen.
Alot of forums out there say this car is the best and nothing else. This forum understands what it strength / weakness of a car and know that its not the best in the industry but the best to the owners opinion.
Hopefully this will continue and maybe we can have a good car club once we all have our cars.
