Vin Question ?

I searched , so i hope this is not a simple ? My Vin ends in 30001.When i purchased it , the service guy thought it strange . i have seen lots off vin numbers on here and the closet i have seen to mine was a 26000 . They started at 10000 correct? so i would have the 20,001 car? it was built 1/04. thank you

i am now asking for vin # 30000 up to post any problems if any ?

On a similar note how do you find out the approximate build date from the Vin number ?

Thanks for the answer. i got the build date of the drivers door.
The reason i ask , it seems my car has none of the small problems people take about on here . i have a automatic with great air , power and etc. It seems since mine was a late build date , maybe a lot has been corrected . Anyone out there have a number 30002 or later? if so how is your 8?

I would guess that they didn't build a #0 car, and that the first was 10,001. That would make yours the 20,000 built - assuming that they don't re-use the last 5 digits between the different US, Japanese, Euro, Canadian, etc. VINS (those all have different digits earlier in the VIN - theoretically, there could be 5 different VINs that all end in 30,001 (but I doubt it)).

Regards,
Gordon

IMHO, when buying, I would make sure to get a late-build model. By this, I mean a car with VIN xxx...xxx36xxx and beyond; those were built in late March or April and seem unaffected by most of the issues of the early cars (AC, for example).

Build date was Dec 03.

No problems so far, not even AC.

Mine's in the 17000 range. Sept? Oct? 03. Don't remember. bought in early March. Other than a few details (airbag recall, M flash) no real issues that I know of and no real problems.
I found this thread interesting for a different reason. It seems like there are still a lot of cars not sold from the earlier builds - Feras got one recently, for instance. I wonder what the highest VIN number around is? Seems like it's in the high 30's - if so, how well do you all think the car is selling?

There are still a lot on the lots here. but the dealer i used had bought mostly automatics( dealership is located in the upper area of town) the other dealer had purchased mostly stick . i think as the minor problems are weeded out and people see the room they have, sales will increase.( it was out almost a year before i realized the 4 doors)
i see that somone has a vin of 38000, i thought mine was high!
i am thinking they have stopped making 2004 and are making 2005? and the ones on the lots now are the last of the 2004?also i understand that sales are what Mazda was expecting and they where pleased.

mine is 137something..brand new literally..only 2 miles when I test drove it around to block to make sure I am fine with it. I test drove a different one earlier this week. When I was done going around the block..it had 5 miles on it.

I am a proud new owner of a A/T ti-gray with GT package and spoiler for 300 over invoice.

I've got 33053. Only problem so far was a minor rattle, which I fixed by stuffing some wadded up napkins between two panels.

Mine is in the mid 34 thousand range, just picked it up today. They say it just arrived at the dealer on Friday from Japan? Don't know for sure. I did the break pump to 24, and the oil guage swept, so I assume I have the L or M flash. Sales guy told me they bring in all their cars whet they first arrive at the dealership and flash them to the latest available.
