Got them on my WRX, and they are as good as it gets on dust. Omicron 06-12-2004, 01:22 PM Vivid Racing sells some that are ceramic, and supposed to reduce the brake dust by like 90% or something... here (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19651). I'm planning on getting some after I wear out my factory pads. poolsidenaz 06-12-2004, 01:32 PM Thanks for the heads up on that Omicron. I'll be keeping that in mind for myself in the future as well. I couldn't agree more with you Ti - cleaning these wheels is really wearing thin on me. I detailed the car Thursday, cleaned the wheels again Friday morning and this am they look like sh*t again :( I've been using a wet papertowel; sometimes windex. I can't keep the things clean. Irish_in_a_RX8 06-15-2004, 05:12 PM ..its worse when you have about a days 'dust' on the rims, then it rains. What a mess! Then theres the rust that collects in the back rotors and 'drips' on the inner lining of the rim...enough to drive anyone through the roof! Wayne Rotarian_SC 06-15-2004, 08:06 PM Yep, I've got the same problem with the back rotors MrWigggles 06-15-2004, 11:04 PM The RAIN-X brake dust preventer spray works pretty well. After cleaning all of the wheels, I spray it on the front wheels only. The wheels look "OK" for about a week and the fronts and the backs get darker at the same rate. It helps but it ain't no solution. -Mr. Wigggles Ps. My new wheels don't get as dirt as my factory wheels. The face of the wheel is further away from the caliper and that helps alot. peterlemonjello 06-16-2004, 08:11 AM Has anyone tried waxing their wheels? I've heard if the wheels are waxed you can wash the brake dust of with just water with no scrubbing. terbeaux 06-16-2004, 08:50 AM There is no such thing as dustless brake pads. Marketing hype. I tried EBC green "dustless" pads on my other car and went through them in one track day and had dust from the front wheels to the rear bumper. The "dustless" pads dust doesn't seem to stick as much though, ie easier to clean off. Irish_in_a_RX8 06-16-2004, 09:44 AM Mr Wiggles, you have those Kaz. wheels from Tirerack, right? I wanted Hiros, but they are still unavailable in 18s, and considering the rims you purchased. How do they clean - are they easy to scratch in comparison to stock? Thx! I wax mine and it definitely helps with the amount of dust that sticks to the rim, provided you wash your car regularly. But when it comes time to wash what is there you still have to scrub. |
