Hello to all. Hey I just wanted to stop by and check out your forum you have going. I don't own an RX8 and I would be telling a lie if I said I am getting one. What I am doing is looking into differnt cars that are out there right now to decide on what I want to get. I love the way the 8 looks, so it is in my top 5 right now. Biggest reason I am here is to learn more about it. Oh yeah, I'm not an idiot when it comes to cars, but I am not a car wizard either, and even worse on the rotary engine. I'm a bike guy if you didn't catch that by the screen name.

See you around.

Josh

Well it's an 03 Suzuki Hayabusa. Mods are; Brock Hindle Full Exhaust, Web Cams, Airbox mod, K&N filter, Power Commander 3r, TRE, lowered front and rear, and that's about it. Stock they are about 155 to 159 RWHP and 99ft/lbs of torque mine right now is 181hp/104 ft/lbs of torque.

She moves.

Heres some more pictures.

My god that is a beautiful machine. There's almost as much hp in that bike as an 8! Isn't a Hayabusa the most powerful bike or something?

No the Kawasaki ZX12R has more HP but less torque stock. The Hayabusa has the quickest 1/4 mile time on average in the mid 9's at high 140's. All bike are now limited to 186mph, but before they were limited, the Hayabusa held the record at like 193 or something like that, right from the factory. I know it is in the 190's, but not sure of the exact number.

To sum it up, it feels like it is going to rip your arms off when you nail the throttle.

 Yikes! what is the 0-60 time? Did you ever see the video of several Hayabusas with NOS installed take on a Viper?

Yeah that video was awesome. The Viper had 886 RWHP and was able to hang with the bone stock Busa, then the bike with just the pipe walked him. The Nitrous bikes just plain up left him. I think the carbon fiber Hayabusa had something like 220RWHP, can you imagine what one of the 500+HP Turbo bikes could do? I couldn't ride one of those.

Just out of curiosity, what does the RX8 have for HP at the wheels? And how much does it weigh?

I think it is around 200 rwhp and just under 3 thousand pounds.
There aren't an exact number for hp because there is speculation as to the car cutting back hp when it senses it's rear wheels spinning at different speed to the front wheels. Such as when you put the car on a dyno.

My 8 dyno'd 187 at the wheels with current dyno methods for these cars.. Weighs in at around 3000 without driver.

Any idea what the HP is at the crank?

I am going to getting a set of stacks for the instake side of the airbox and doing a larger mod to the airbox. Hard to explain unless you were really into bikes. Anyway I should be close to 190 at the wheel when it's done. I will loose a little low end grunt, but I'm never in the "low end" very long anyway. My goal is to shoot for 200+HP at the wheel by the end of summer. I'm going to get a 40shot of nitrous. Really no reason but to boost my own ego and I want to get the bike to get an 8.99 or better in the quarter.

So are there many mods out there for the RX8 yet or not because it is so new?

moRotorMotor

Well, they say it is 238hp so I don't know. There are mods out there but only minor gains (exhaust 2-4 hp, intake 1-3 hp, canzoomer mod chip 10-20hp...etc.) unless you go forced induction. Even then, there is no guarantee as to how the Renesis will react to it since the compression is so high, at 10 to 1. So far there are only rumors of mazda coming out with a supercharger/turbocharger and several kits by other companies. A lot of the rotary gurus say that NOS is not a good idea, but I don't know.

Well it's still a damn good looking car even if you can't bring the HP's up alot yet. Give it time.

How do the handle?

moRotorMotor
06-13-2004, 03:16 PM
Well, probably because many of us had never owned anything classified as "sports car" before, but I and many other owners have noticed that we can take on/off ramps and tight turns way faster than normal. One particular member said he seen a good handling car (can't remember what it was) following behind him on the offramp, lose control! And as crazy as that may sound, I believe it. It's no Corvette but I can't see a whole lot of cars for this price, match the handling abilitites.
