punishr: Ordered the lines from Canzoomer, he has a pretty good contact in Japan that is less expensive than Japanparts... The pads I ordered from our dealership...

Cool thanks for info. I am definately going to upgrade my pads, I have a little over 11,000 miles on my 8 and the brakes squeek. The rotors are in good shape, and the stock pads still have some pad left on them so I think it's just that they are cheap. Got to upgrade so hopefully can get rid od the squeek.

Hey Cortc,

It would be great if you could install just the pads first and evaluate one change at a time rather than installing both the pads and the lines at the same time. I’m interested in both the lines and the pads too, but want to upgrade one at time and I’m wondering if one is more effective than the other. Just a suggestion.

oi812: I will probably do the pads this weekend then the lines next, so I will let you know...

Irish_in_a_RX8: Thanks, How do you get to VP, work very hard for a bunch of years and climb, climb, climb faster than evryone else; there you go simple...

How do they look visually? I'd imagine the blue might be alittle off on some RX-8s. How about Brake dust, more, little, same?

Thx Cor

Irish: They look blue... Looks Ok though, very Mazdaspeed and most of them are covered by the calipers (I have some shots, will post tonight)... Maybe a little less dust, need more time to see the real difference...

THere it is cortc...

Beat you there :D

Don't you find the brake pad is excellent in initial braking - it is just what they said in the box.

I have broken in the pad and they are great.

There is a slight very high pitch noise that the very beginning of breaking which is ok I think. I can only hear that when winding the window down.

just curious if this upgrade does anything to add more brake dust to the wheels?

ScudRunner

did the brake pads require any tools beyond normal ratchets and what not? cuz the service manual shows some SST for the pistons on the calipers...

cortc
08-10-2004, 10:00 PM
ScudRunner: No, you can just grab the piston with a large pair of pliers and spin it...

Ok, they feel awesome! The brake pedal is very firm and the modulation on the brakes is very precise; I am very happy with them... I also bled the complete system with Valvoline DOT 3-4 Synthetic brake fluid... Nice stuff and not to expensive 513 dry and 320 wet boiling points... Will replace with ATE Super Blue Racing once I get the MS clutch line in 536 dry and 392 wet or maybe even Castrol SRF DOT 5.1 590 dry and 518 wet...
