View Full Version : Mazdaspeed Brake Lines & Pads... cortc 06-11-2004, 04:03 PM Just ordered these, should be in next week...:) cortc 06-11-2004, 04:03 PM And these...:) cortc 06-11-2004, 04:05 PM Will take the opportunity to put in better brake fluid when I bleed the brakes... punishr 06-11-2004, 06:51 PM Hey cortc!!!! where did you order these from? cortc 06-11-2004, 06:55 PM punishr: Ordered the lines from Canzoomer, he has a pretty good contact in Japan that is less expensive than Japanparts... The pads I ordered from our dealership... punishr 06-11-2004, 07:47 PM Cool thanks for info. I am definately going to upgrade my pads, I have a little over 11,000 miles on my 8 and the brakes squeek. The rotors are in good shape, and the stock pads still have some pad left on them so I think it's just that they are cheap. Got to upgrade so hopefully can get rid od the squeek. Kel Rx8 06-11-2004, 10:54 PM very nice you 8 is coming out hott rxeightr 06-12-2004, 08:23 AM Originally posted by Kel Rx8 very nice you 8 is coming out hott Watcha mean -- it already is. I'm just not where it will end -- if ever. Keep the posts coming cortc. RotorManiac 06-14-2004, 10:04 PM they look nice. i wonder what are these pads made of, kevlar or something? still their color is strange... a1a23936 06-14-2004, 11:05 PM I.... must.... aquire..... :) (budget will be destroyed!) part no.'s?? prices? Irish_in_a_RX8 06-15-2004, 05:07 PM Very nice. So how does one upgrade their position to VP! Best Rx-8 on the board.... oi812 06-15-2004, 06:36 PM Hey Cortc, It would be great if you could install just the pads first and evaluate one change at a time rather than installing both the pads and the lines at the same time. I’m interested in both the lines and the pads too, but want to upgrade one at time and I’m wondering if one is more effective than the other. Just a suggestion. cortc 06-15-2004, 08:46 PM oi812: I will probably do the pads this weekend then the lines next, so I will let you know... Irish_in_a_RX8: Thanks, How do you get to VP, work very hard for a bunch of years and climb, climb, climb faster than evryone else; there you go simple... -8- 06-15-2004, 08:50 PM wow you must be rich. Irish_in_a_RX8 06-16-2004, 09:47 AM No, hes a VP -8-! lol..corc..I better start working harder then! Just another 10 years to go... cortc 06-21-2004, 11:15 AM Installed the PADS, very easy... Better bite, and stopping power... Irish_in_a_RX8 06-21-2004, 01:55 PM How do they look visually? I'd imagine the blue might be alittle off on some RX-8s. How about Brake dust, more, little, same? Thx Cor cortc 06-21-2004, 02:43 PM Irish: They look blue... Looks Ok though, very Mazdaspeed and most of them are covered by the calipers (I have some shots, will post tonight)... Maybe a little less dust, need more time to see the real difference... takahashi 06-21-2004, 07:34 PM THere it is cortc... Beat you there :D Don't you find the brake pad is excellent in initial braking - it is just what they said in the box. I have broken in the pad and they are great. There is a slight very high pitch noise that the very beginning of breaking which is ok I think. I can only hear that when winding the window down. mrtux 06-21-2004, 07:40 PM just curious if this upgrade does anything to add more brake dust to the wheels? takahashi 06-21-2004, 10:39 PM Not really... although I only have them for a week. Jeffjett 06-21-2004, 11:51 PM Wow Cortc, I can't wait to see what's next. cortc 06-22-2004, 06:53 AM Taka: Thanks, and the fronts show even less blue... Next are the Mazdaspeed brake lines, should be here by the end of the week... cortc 06-22-2004, 06:56 AM taka: Your lugs are loose in that picture? takahashi 06-22-2004, 06:59 AM yeah... have not tighten the nuts on that picture. I was in the garage with the car jacked up. It is back hurting to take a pic when the car is down cortc! :D cortc 06-22-2004, 07:01 AM What time is it over there right now? takahashi 06-22-2004, 07:09 AM 9pm? Why cortc 06-22-2004, 08:05 AM Just curios, thought it was a few hours difference... ArvinC 06-22-2004, 09:21 AM ...are AWESOME looking!! I would guess their performance will be stunning as well! :D Once again, hard to beat your ride there, Cortc!! ;) Arvin cortc 08-10-2004, 10:28 AM Ok, the lines finally came in, they where back ordered... I will post actual pics tonight then install this weekend and post some comments... ScudRunner 08-10-2004, 07:58 PM did the brake pads require any tools beyond normal ratchets and what not? cuz the service manual shows some SST for the pistons on the calipers... cortc 08-10-2004, 10:00 PM ScudRunner: No, you can just grab the piston with a large pair of pliers and spin it... ScudRunner 08-10-2004, 10:21 PM word...that's what i like to hear cortc 08-10-2004, 10:25 PM Ok, here are a few pics; very nice quality... I will install this weekend and replace the fluid with high quality DOT4...:) cortc 08-10-2004, 10:25 PM One more pic... cortc 08-15-2004, 01:30 AM A few pics of the brake lines install...:) cortc 08-15-2004, 01:39 AM Ok, they feel awesome! The brake pedal is very firm and the modulation on the brakes is very precise; I am very happy with them... I also bled the complete system with Valvoline DOT 3-4 Synthetic brake fluid... Nice stuff and not to expensive 513 dry and 320 wet boiling points... Will replace with ATE Super Blue Racing once I get the MS clutch line in 536 dry and 392 wet or maybe even Castrol SRF DOT 5.1 590 dry and 518 wet... |
