Hey I have kind of a hypothetical question but I'm curious. Do dealerships allow kids with permits to test drive their vehicles? Because I've been interested in checking out the RX-8 but never been in one. I'm kind of thinking no because they're pretty sure you won't be a customer in the near future(which is very true). Does anyone have any information on this?

I doubt it. I think they require a valid driver's license for test drives and not permits. Permits only allows you to drive if you have someone else with you who holds a valid driver's license.

My 16 yo did several times with me in the car with her. Sometimes they copied both my license and her permit, other times just my permit. If not, just drive off yourself and let your kid switch over later, they'll still be insured under your insurance I believe.

Great information! I was just checking. Ill just wait to test it once I have my full licsense(next year). Im still a pretty new driver(only been driving for 2 months) so that probably explains why they wouldnt want us kids with permits driving them :)

When i test drove the car...it was me and my dad. The salesman knew i had my permit and threw me the keys and told me and my dad to go for a drive. We did. We loved it. We bought it. It probably depends on the salesperson and whether or not they are an A$$.
