Found a lot of MS groundwires for sale on ebay, just wondering if those were legit or not. any input ? thx

They are not, I installed the original ones from JDM Mazda; the ones that come on the Mazdaspeed RX8... The ones on Ebay are not the same...

My input would be they have a negligible effect if any. Installed a clone set for $50 and didn't notice a difference.

I think there is another thread where Canzoomer was talking about this.

PUR NRG... likely you saw no improvements BECAUSE you used a clone set. What that thread was saying is that you can't use just any old heavy guage wire. YOu need the high quality stuff like pro installers used on their audio systems.... the stuff made up of thousands of thin copper wires.

That being said... no one has really seen a performance increase. A difference in the charging system (i.e. lights and radio running , etc.) has been noted though.

You don't need "audio quality" stranded wire for a grounding kit! Actually, I'm sure those "clone" sets are stranded too...it would be next to impossible to use if it were not. Seriously though, the electrical impact of stranded vs. solid-core wire is real...but not for an application like this, and frankly, not really for audio either, I don't care what the audio snobs tell you :-)

It helps stabilize the electrical system; it can affect everything from the idle quality to audio system interference... It works and I have noticed a slight improvement in idle... I would like to note that I have driven several RX8s not just mine since I have access to everyone on our dealership lot, and since I installed the wires my car has the smoothest idle of any other I have driven...

After install I wanted to notice a difference--especially in idle--but didn't see/feel anything. It was a 4 AWG stranded copper cable with crimped connectors using the same mounting points as MazdaSpeed's. Personally I thought the cable was total overkill and would have preferred 8 AWG for better flexibility and neatness.

I got mine from someone on ebay. It was $50. Real high quality stuff with thick braided copper wires, nicely crimped connectors, and clearly written instructions. Real professional job.

Looks really cool but the performance....uhmmm.....did I mention it looks cool.

Buy the original, there is a reason Mazda put it on the Mazdaspeed cars...

yea the i've decided to go with the orginal but is canzoomer the only vendor for the wires ?

Don't shoot the messenger. As I said, I believed it had been said by canzoomer in a thread in his forum...

I also remember CZ posting the exact dimensions of the kit for those who wanted to roll their own. Certainly a crappily-constructed grounding kit has the potential to do more harm than good...it just doesn't need anything all that special in terms of wiring.

Another thing about these grounding kits...all they're ever going to do is give you back something you're losing due to an inadequate stock ground system. IS the stock system inadequate? I have no idea...I would hope not! However I know in the FD world, a much larger percentage of people adding grounding kits were claiming obvious improvements. Of course, the fact that those cars are 10 years old or so may have something to do with that!

Well for all the good that is the FD... it does have its inadequacies... apparantly cooling is one of them and grounding too it seems.

so you all perfer the MS earth/ground wire and not those cheap shit from ebay.

I prefer the cheaper stuff from ebay. I really don't think it's sh*t. The guy I bought it from put together a professional kit.

to me a copper wire is a copper wire. What other differences can there be between the MS kit and a imitation other than brand name? CZ even said you can make a kit similar to the MS stuff by yourself.

BTW I know this has been discussed before, may want to do a search..... :)

Something nobody else is mentioning--using good grounding points makes a big difference as well. You want unpainted frame, as far away from the battery, engine block, and other grounding points as possible . . .

contacted rotaryextreme, apparently the ground wires are discontinued.

Many other companies offer them as well. Revolution, RMagic, Auto Exe... to name a few...

I used the schematic CZ posted and made my own grounding kit out of 8 gauge wire. TOok about 2 hours after soldering and cutting but it was not big deal. Cost me $20.
