So who shot him...and why? I'm listening to that song that goes "I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round"...and I can't help wonder why someone would want to kill him. Those bastards.

Mark David Chapman, a paranoid schizophrenic, shot him.

Why he did it is a matter of speculation... conspiracy theories abound. The FBI considered Lennon a "dangerous extremist".

I vividly remember the moment I heard he'd been killed. It's one of those memories that will always be etched into my brain.Imagine (http://www.john-lennon.com/theassassinationofjl.htm)

As a big Beatles fan that was definitely a low point in my life when he was shot.

And now that George is dead. We just have the Twotles.

I was getting ready to go to bed listening to WNEW in NYC on the radio when Pete Fornatel(sp) a disc jockey came on and said the John had been shot. The man that said "All you need is love" and "Give peace a chance" had been murdered...it was beyond conprehension then and still is some 20 odd years later.
