Huge props to you guys!

and like the others said... i want a MS rear spoiler! :)

And there is NO modification that doesn't have to be done with the MS kit (e.g. MS kit needs some sort of cutting on the rear, I 've heard)?

And is the "gunmetal" on the kit the same as the MS gunmetal? Just wondering, even though the kit comes unpainted.

argh... And what about the screen over the open area? Do we get that or fend for ourselves?

AeroWerksOnline
06-08-2004, 04:01 PM
[Robertdot]
The MS kit does not require modifications but you will have to cut your stock rear bumper in order to fit it in (like the original ms kit). Regarding the gun metal color in the rear. I have called Mazda of North America and they have not given me an answer to what the paint code is. Our kit comes unpainted so it is your decision if you decide to pursue finding the official color from Mazda or just pick something similiar out of a book of paint codes that every shop should have.

The (screen) you are talking about is a grill. It does not come with the kit. However, you can pick up a large sheet for about $5. Most shops will provide it for you if you ask them.

Hope that helps.

Also, check out the video on the first post. It's a little something that one of the guys put together real quick.

you guys are making it too hard for me to
say no to a kit now.
ive notice in one of the earlier pixs that it says autowerks body shop,is there any way a special request when ordering a kit
that it can be painted. ?
thankyou

AeroWerksOnline

[Kel Rx8]
We do not recommend that you get the kit pre-painted because of the shipping process. I’m sure many of you are aware of the possibilities in the shipping process which are really out of our hands. Luckily the kit is urethane and will be able to hold up.. If anything was to happen during the shipping process, then kit would be unusable and useless. We recommend that you find a reputable body/paint shop in your area that has experience with such a kit.

As of right now, the shop is occupied with a couple complete make-overs on some show cars so a combination of time constraints with the painter and bad experience with doing this before makes them want to hold back on such a offer. Ideally, it would just be more profit for the body shop but they don’t want to risk their reputation and while havng it on the hands of shipping companies.

[robertdot]
I will have to double check on that for you. Worse comes to worse, I'll personally download and print the instructions for you. I believe there are a couple of forums that explain people's experience and installation process.

Here's an example from one of the members:

Is there anyway to get the Plastic peice that comes on the US Mazdaspeed kit on to your version? I dont like how you can see the bumper beam in the back.

Also, In the pictures above, is there any kind of grill or mesh being used at all? I like how it looks, but cant tell from the pics if anything is back there.

Lastly, are individual piece prices posted anywhere? Such as front bumper=?, side skirts=?, back bumper=?.

Thanks in advance

[Flzrider]
I don’t think it’s possible to buy just the plastic piece that comes with the authentic kit. If you can get a hold of this, it will fit because our kit is an exact replica. Regarding the grill, yes we did use a grill. It is a universal grill and spray painted black.

[Kel Rx8]
We use a private freight company in order to bring down the cost for our customers. I will have to double check on the exact name of the company but they are widely used by many other companies. Once the kit is shipped, it takes roughly 1 to 2 weeks to receive based on your location.

I will have the new pictures posted above listed on our site by tomorrow.

I think the vendor thing is being worked on, but if they aren't a vendor they can't post prices, if I understand correctly. Go to their website as was suggested previously. Click on the banner at the bottom of the page.

Looks like the rebar has been removed. (The white styrofoam behind the front bumper, see picture included). I'm not sure if it's required by state laws, but I would check.
I'd also be worried about getting in a wreck and the insurance not covering the front bumper repairs since the rebar was removed.
Definitely put the rebar back in and get a plastic cover on the grill portion.

Kit looks good. Too bad it wasn't available 2 months ago.

I'll just answer this question since I am the owner of the car above. The color match is pretty good from what I can see, the shop did a great job. I think you might be refering to the lip of the front bumper, the bottom of the side skirt, and the rear lip of the diffuser. I chose to have it painted a darker grey which all real Mazdaspeed kits have.

The exhaust I am currently running is the HKS Legamax which has been turning gold lately but I think its possible to clean it off with some metal polish.

I will post up pictures of my car and a video clip of the exhaust as soon as I have time. Sorry, I haven't been keeping updated with the boards much.

BTW, thank you Aerowerks for hooking it up with a free kit and Autowerks for doing a good job on installing and painting it.

06-09-2004, 07:54 PM
Adrian, the rebar does fit but I decided not to include it because it will show up behind the grill. I may plan to put it in later on by painting it black. But remember, you cannot paint the rebar with black spray paint since it is made of syrofoam. You will have to find some kit of art paint and paint it on with a brush.

Hey Minh,

I’m glad that you finally decided to reveal yourself. It was pleasure working with you. We really appreciate all your help and coorperation in making a smooth fitment and installation process. I hope you’re enjoying your new kit.

[adrian-1]
What you see on Minh’s car is a two-tone paint job. Some individuals like there to be a slight or big difference for appearance reasons. What you see is the color that Minh decide to paint so no, your eyes are not seeing things.

This is a good example of the two tone effect…

That’s for the information. It’s a good idea to put the piece back on. After all, you want to be insured for your parts.

We'll hopefully be able to start distributing this kit by Sunday pending our talk with the site owner.

If you have any questions, please feel free to pm or e-mail us. I check our messages a lot so our response should be timely.

You may want to contact the people posting THIS AD (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7904974420&category=36475) on ebay. It says fiberglass, and it's not your name.

Unbelievable how within a week of you posting pictures, some schmuck steals them and claims that it's his work.

AeroWerksOnline
06-10-2004, 08:14 PM
We have already been contacted by 2 people from AUS and we have no problem with shipping overseas. We just need your exact shipping address. It takes about a day or two to get the exact price from the shipping company.

If you are close to someone overseas and want to have it ship directly to 1 person, we have no problem with that as well. You just have to work that out with each other. We will ship it to who ever pays the entire cost. It might be a good idea to think about, It would help with shipping cost.

This applies for the entire kit or separate pieces.

umm for the paint, how hard will it be for Veloci Red? I mean if I get it I would want the gold flakes but wouldn't it cost a fortune?

BTW your sites down. How much is the cost of the full kit?

It seems to me and my friend found out that the rear under spoiler is hung a bit too high compare to the real mazdaspeed kit... so that results in the diffuser part does not look as nice or the diffuser isn't as steep as the MS kit? just want to know if we can be able to re-adjust the rear under spoiler a bit lower? Will it still fit perfectly without any gap?

Probably we are too picky? or they are slightly different?

cheers,

Haha, you have a very good eye! I thought no one would know. I notice that a couple days after I got my car and Autowerks said they would fix it for me. Its not a hard fix, just relocate and drill new holes.

That's more of a paint shop question. I see that your from Florida so I advise that you look around and ask people how much they will charge for the job. If you provide them with the paint code and details, most shops will give you a good estimate. However, make sure you go to a reputable shop with experience in painting, places like Maaco simiply doesn't cut it!

The site should be up and running, I just checked it. It might have just went down for a bit. Thanks and let me know if I can provide any additional help.

[nismo350Z & sohcpunk]
You both have great eyes. It's actually just a minor mistake and has nothing to do with fitment. When I saw his car a couple days ago, I was wondering why it looked like that. I was going to suggest a drop (and why not some rims!) but the guys at Autowerks told me what happened. Believe me, the great thing about AutoWerks is that this rarely happens, but if it does, they make sure they fix it right.

There's nothing better for a Body Shop than a happy customer who tells his/her friends.

sohcpunk... i was wondering how the clearance is ... after you got your kit... when you go over bumps and dips... is it forgiving or do you have to try your best not to scrape the bottom of the kit..... oh and can you PM me the price for the paint job at autowerks please... i am really interested in purchasing the kit :P

sohcpunk
06-12-2004, 03:27 AM
The clearance is awesome without a drop car and the aerowerks MS kit. I think I can go through dips pretty good without scratching. Regarding the price I paid for the paint and installation at autowerks, lets just say they gave me a good deal because I was chosen to do the test fitment. You should PM Will (Aerowerksonline) and ask him how much he is charging because I have no idea how much he wants to charge for painting and installation.

I have not had the time to bring my car in to get the rear apron readjusted. It might be in a few weeks. I'll definitely post pics when its done :)

just one more question~
remember me and 350Z asked about the back add on?
did you adjust the red car? and why does the back add on looks different, as it look curve to me.
the middle looks higher then the side. was that because its been heat up when it was painting?

AeroWerksOnline
06-20-2004, 03:37 PM
Willy,

We did not adjust the red car. The rear of both cars have 2 bolts that are secured to the exhaust heat shield. This is for added security so your rear is secured to the car and not hanging down. The reason why you dont see it on the Gray car is because we did not take any low angle shots.

The real MS kit comes with metal hangers that make the middle section become flat and not curved up. Pictures below to compare. It's a small difference.

To have the Fog Light Brackets, you just by the MS brackets from either the dealer or whatever souce you can find (adrian-1 provide one - Thanks). I know for a fact that it can work since we put it on Mikeb's car.

- Hangers -
As far as the hangers, I'm not sure exactly what size and length they are. Anyone know for sure or have the kit that can confirm/measure. I'll look into this right away and give you the information. I'll also give a call to Minh and see what he has come up with. When I get the size, I'll go to Home Depot and get a pair to show pics, give product number, etc. I remember someone posted up a picture of the brackets. It's just 2 small metal pieces.

mike, I think I have a plan for the rear. Autowerks installed both our rears and bolted the back with 2 screws. If we were to buy longer screws, i think it will straighten things out. I havnt gotten a chance to experiment with this but will do so this weekend. Maybe I'll even try running the rear without the screws.
