26yo been driving since I was 16. Got my first ticket in a long time and it wasn't a pretty one.

I was coming down an onramp to merge into traffic and I hate getting stuck behind SUVs like nobodies business. Anyway, I gunned it to get ahead of the guy and he was most likely already going 10-15 over so when I passed him I was easily speeding...

I started to slow down and low and behold coming from the other direction 5.0 He said he clocked me at 79 in a 55. Which means he caught me just as I hit my peak. :-/

I just moved into the area from out of state and he told me if I didn't get my license before the court date, VA wouldn't give me a license at all. :-/

Now what I wonder if there is anyway I can get this thing to come down some. If it goes on my record like this, insurance is gonna kill me. I have a baby on the way, and I made a stupid mistake. I should have just gotten behind the stupid SUV.

Anybody know a lawyer that can help me?

That sucks. VA is not a good place to speed. Anything 20 MPH over the limit is automatic wreckless (stays on your record for 11 years). Double the limit and IIRC you lose your license.

Can't help you with the lawyer thing. Good luck.

I don't know VA laws, but from what I hear, majority of the east coast states have extremely strict laws on speeding...more so than that of California.

Seems to me that the temptations of the RX8 to drive faster than your normal driving are higher.
