I just got off the phone w/ my dad!
he gave me the go w/ Silver + black/black leather
( the reason that im getting silver instead of the black and titanium grey i wanted is because my mom said if its leather it has to be black/black. she HATES 2 tones.. so.. either yellow or silver and she said yellow too catchy)
only one problem

AUTOMATIC ONLY!!!!

he said no way he's buying a 40k and only I can drive it! my mom and him must be able to drive it too!!!
so Automatic or no go!!!

should i go search for another car?? or will the automatic be good enuf

ok im reading the spec and it said
"...when coupled witha 4 speed automatic transmission featuring sport shift technology with Formula -1 inspired steering wheel mountd paddle shifter"

I checked out the only pic of auto i can find and its from mazda.com and it shifts using the same shifter.. but it seems to be from a Japs model

does anyone know if u shift like all other automatic shifter or u shift like the ferrari using the paddle ont he side much like a computer steering wheel??

Convince your parents to learn how to drive a manual?

My understanding is that the tiptronic is run on both steeringwheel paddles and the shifter.

Yeah you will get the paddles on the steering wheel. I can't find the pic, the paddle on the right is for upshift and the paddle on the left is for downshift

for "around town" driving the auto-8 might be fun... the F1 paddles might give you a little something "extra" to look forward too...

remember there is a lil bump in the low end and the tranny "supposedly" has been setup for somewhat agressive drivers.. if the Mazda 6 auto is any indication of that the 8 has to bring to the table I think you would be impressed. I drove the Mazda 6 at a zoom-zone event in both 4 and 6 cylinder models and the auto is not hte old slouch of yesteryear.. its pretty toothy setup and provides "simple" pleasures... albeit they are totally differnt that the wonder feelings you might obtain from a 6 speed.

It has been said (at least by Mazda) that the auto will not disappoint those looking for an alternative to the manual tranny setup. (see the original press-kit for details on that.)

I'd invite anyone that thinks the Miata is a 'chick car' to take a ride in mine with me at Deal's Gap. Those who know, know.
Requires a warning sticker "sit down, shut up and hold on"

The Miata is certainly not a chick car, unless of course you mean that it lets you get chicks. I took my wife out on our first date in the Miata and she loved it and look where it led. I am having trouble convincing my wife we should get an 8 because it is a hardtop.

Great car to learn how to handle a car. My son has taken all his driving courses in a 91 BRG and hates any other car.

4 speed automatic:mad:

Ass slow, and poor mileage (city) due to high stall speed torque converter. Annoying driving style, due to high stall speed t.c.
