I not very good with paintshop, but after 10 mins of pi$$ing around, here is what I think my plate will look like on the front....

So do we need to get the matching velocity red shirts as well ??
Would a square plate look better on the front?
I will certainly be hoping for a square plate on the back. I think there is room and the square plate I had on the XJS for some reason looked richer and more defined than normal shape. Especially with M1 on one line and RXB on the next.

Hope they are not square plates!
Everyone will think it's a grey import!
TBH it would be better with no front plate at all. You'd be surprised at the number of Elise owners that remove their front plates and have never been stopped!

Can't we stick the numbers onto the leading edge of the bonnet, like an E-type Jag ???

Yuk !
Stick on the bonnet ? Grey-import square plates ? What is wrong with you people ?
Agree it is not ideal on the front grill , but bear in mind some of the shots we have seen indicate that the grill has a 'solid' section where the plate goes. Removal of the plate may just leave a plate shaped mounting plaque - and just look daft.
There has been quite alot of discussion on the main forums about this. One of the more sensible suggestions is to mount it low , on the front splitter. (You see alot of Elises like this).
Guess we need to see one for real to make the call.

If you check out the Australia video on:

You will see a red RX-8 with a front plate. Amazingly I think it adds to the car quite nicely. Just as well really!

Personally, I agree with Morgan. I dont want stick on or square import style plates.
I dont think the plate looks too bad on the front, particularly if there is a panel for it as shown on some of the photos.
The space for the plate on the back of the car looks like it is designed for a standard long plate, not a square one.
Those of us with private plates can have a 'shorter' length plate as well which will help.
I wonder if there will be a market for Velocity Red sweatshirts?
And no, its not me with the Tom Selleck style moustache and eighties glasses driving the car!

I'll always agree with Morgan because he's a fellow senior, none of this junior rubbish. RESPECT TO SENIORS!
Anyway my dealer says that the plate, if private and 5 digits will look better than the standard 7 digits as it will take up less space.
What do I know, he's probably right though.
Roll on July or August!!

Something has just occured to me.
As we've all put our cars, colours and number plates on the net, (which is visible to all) whats stopping some unscrupulous scrote with an RX8 from getting free passage into the London Congestion Zone with our plates strapped to his car!!
Invoices galore from Uncle Ken.??
