Question Did I mis-diagnose?

I started a post a few days ago about my car overheating, to which no one else has had a problem with. What I am wondering is if anyone else has had the temp gauge approaching the 3/4 mark and then had the temp drop back down to a normal level (normal for my car seems to be just slightly under halfway).

Did I jump the gun on this or did I really have a serious problem?

Once again the symptoms were the engine was idling all over the place, the AC cut out all the way (not the normal AC cycling issue) and the temp shot up to about 3/4 mark. I quickly turned on the heater to full blast and the temp moved back to normal pretty quickly, but it was steadily rising before that.

Should I be worried or do RX8's run a little hotter than I am used to?

Thanks in advance!!!

That is not normal. Just a guess, but it do sound like a trip to your friendly dealer is in order.... quick.

Yes, not normal! Take it to the dealer.

Ditto - I have never seen my temp gauge go north of halfway.. it's always at it's normal spot a tick or so under half way (unless it's still warming up)

If it were me, I'd report it to the dealer and see what they have to say, perhaps ask them to check the system for holding pressure to make sure there are no leaks, and perhaps replace your thermostat since it may be malfunctioning.
