View Full Version : Mazda Rev it Up ??
MaRX8 03-03-2003, 11:04 PM I was curious is anyone going to attend this? It seems like a lot of fun and it's cheap.
Sorry if I've already missed the thread on it.

Hercules 03-03-2003, 11:08 PM Where are the price listings? I signed up a long while ago :)
MaRX8 03-03-2003, 11:11 PM It says it's only $39 dollars. It's under the Start Here link.
ZoomZoomH 03-03-2003, 11:19 PM holy muggers, I am signing up!!!!!
I already know the FedEx Field lot from last season's autox races, this is gonna be fun!!!
ZoomZoomH 03-03-2003, 11:32 PM signup complete!!!
July 27th at FedEx Field!!! WOOT!!! :D
Hercules 03-03-2003, 11:34 PM I just registered! I thought they were sposed to send me updates... :\
Either way... cya in Philadelphia on July 19th! I should have my RX-8 by then! :D
MaRX8 03-03-2003, 11:40 PM hmm, since I'm in Austin. I could go Houston or Dallas, any other Texans here thinking they might attend? Would like to meet up and say Hello. Hmm, might have to factor in that the RX-8 might be close to release around that time also. Especially around the Dallas date 5/3 & 5/4, Houston is the 4/26 & 4/27.
Jerome81 03-04-2003, 01:23 AM I'm doing San Fran at the end of this month. March 29.
What's cool is in addition to the autox, they'll have every Mazda there available for test drives. What sucks about being 1st to go tho, is the RX-8 won't be out yet :(
So while you bastards have to wait a lot longer than I do, at least some of you will get the RX-8 to test drive.
Or maybe I'll be REALLY lucky, and they'll bring one RX-8 along for a big surprise :D Now that would be sweet!
JTek_55 03-04-2003, 10:52 AM I just registered for May 31 in Miami... With any luck I will have my RX-8 by then. It won't really matter though, since the races are all with the new Mazda6's...

Unfortunately since my order is part of the last batch, I probably won't have my RX-8 by then.

BryanH 03-05-2003, 12:02 AM They never sent me updates either. Thanks to MaRX8 for posting this thread and reminding me. :)
I'm signed up now, San Francisco on the 30th, lucky run group 13.
Did anyone else notice the 6s will all be automatics? Boooooooo...
eccles 03-05-2003, 12:37 AM I never did receive any further notification, but I've now signed up for the Sunday in Dallas, Group 23.
It's going to be a tad crowded at TMS - the SCCA Texas Grand Prix and Round 1 of the SW Divisional Autocross Championship are also happening there that weekend!

DrKillJoY 03-05-2003, 07:43 AM NOTE TO ALL: If you have not gotten any info in your email, take it upon yourself to re-visit the website, there is tons more info, and just about everything you need to know about the event there.
Seems there have been many updates to the website, and no attention paiid to the mailing list.

They gave some silly reason for choosing automatics, but I think the real motivation is to keep newbies from killing clutches and synchros. ;) Still, I'd have liked to have the option of doing my own shifting. Automatics suck - they upshift when you get on the brakes and go through a corner, so when you want to power out of the turn you have to wait a second for the transmission to decide to downshift. Bleah.

it should be OK, Mazda6's automatics are all equipped with the 'manual mode' where you flick the stick to upshift/downshift. And when you are in the manual mode it won't upshift automatically, so you can redline all you want! :p
BryanH 03-07-2003, 12:37 AM Well all automatics have that... I've used that 'trick' when autocrossing a Camry. :) I just hope Mazda will let me/us do this.
tribal azn 03-07-2003, 06:05 PM sigh i just called them and they said that in order to check out the rx8, u would still need to register. and since im under 18 i cant register which means i cant even just go and check it:(
Toadman 03-07-2003, 08:37 PM You can watch and shoot vid's for us?
gazita123 03-10-2003, 02:13 AM My dealer called me up this weekend and invited me to a non-public version of this on the Friday before the public deal. So, I'm signed up for the 28th in San Fran, for free.
Y'all that have preordered may want to check with your dealers to see if they can hook you up with a similar deal.
