Ya know, when it happened I almost did. I have never been so crazy about a car till I laid eyes on this one. Look what it gets me! Besides, if I dont laugh...Ill cry.
The mechanic seems quite knowledgeable and it is generally all suspension and body repair. I would be really worried about it if the powertrain was invovled at all. As of 5/28 they are estimating week to week&1/2. So Im starting to get excited. Alot of my buddies all say that it wont be the same, but Ive got my fingers crossed.

Anybody up to a meet and drink towards the end of June?

paradigm

I'm always up for a drink, but the last weekend of june might be out for me. With any luck I'll have my car in the Rev It Up event in miami :D

I totally agree. Wanna play host this month?

Paradigm, when is Rev It Up? We can plan around it. Day before or after or something.

My car will be on display there on the 27th hopefully. So saturday would be good, or sunday afternoon.

Rev It Up will be in miami on the 26th and 27th

Pico, I would love to help organize but this might not be the best month for me to lead. I just found out that I have 2 different friends in town that weekend so I might be up in the air. Is that weekend the same weekend as Rev It Up in Miami? If I remember correctly, Rev It Up is both days. I actually had hoped to attend one of them but that is up in the air now as well. I would imagine most of us will be trying to make it down there. Maybe we should just connect in Miami if enough people are going? That is where one of my friends will be coming into so it might be convenient for me.

The wife backed it ito a telephone pole tearing up the rear bumper. I didn't take pictures because I want no memories of it. I drove it like that for a month until I had the cash to fix it. F*** the insurance companies!

Man, I hate those telephone poles with legs. They just jump right out in front of you without even looking! Believe me, I wish I could of not used the insurance. But $8000 plus 6 weeks of a rental car I couldnt afford. Glad your wifes ok and now your red baby is too. You up to a small get together this month?

Hey, I got my 8 back today, and they had a scratch on the black part of the bumper under the painted part that they did not see. They are scrambling for a solution, so I had a thought. How would it look if I got them to paint the black, unpainted parts with black paint? Seems like that would have been a good idea from the factory! Any opinions?

I'm back toooooooooooooo - Hi guys.....I've been swamped with house renovations since the beginning of May - ahhhhhhhhhh - dust and drywall - sucks big time but the house looks great. Just starting to dig my way out and back to checking up on your guys. Son's been home from UF (GO GATORS) so supporting underage drinking has been going on big time in my house - lol - I don't know how I'm surviving. Sorry to hear about the telephone pole and haven't even looked at what happened but I'll head to the Ale House thread now to look (or maybe not). Anyway, just saying hi - hope to catch up with you guys after I bring the car into the car wash - I'm almost embarrassed to be driving it the way it's looking these days. Didja miss me????

WE MISSED YOU DEB!!!!!!

You are on these forums and yet you have not been to a single meet!!!! This is a problem. Your attendance is REQUIRED at the next meet, or you will face the consequences.

On a side note, I got my new tires put on today. BFGoodrich G-Force t/a KDW2's in 245/40ZR18. All I can say is WOW. These tires are amazing. I got the tires, plus mounting and balancing for about $850 from a guy in riviera beach. For those of you in the area who are coming up on the end of your OE tires I HIGHLY recomend this guy. PM me and I'll give you the number to his shop.

Sorry, dudette. Too many Crown and cokes that night to read your profile!

The 8 goes back to the body shop this week. They say they cannot paint the black because of the pebbled surface, so they are going to replace the whole thing again. They are not happy.

06-15-2004, 06:25 AM
Better to get it new than some touch up that wont look right. Good for u gator.

As for me the saga continues...

Yesterday I called to find out my service advisor went on vacation without even calling me. But now the body shop manager is handling my car so I can deal with that. So when I got a call back to see where the car was at as far as repairs, they still could not find a Bridgestone tire to match! I couldnt f***ing believe it. So I called City Place Mazda parts dept and he tells me he has one. So I went and bought the tire, drove it down to Coral Springs, and put it on her desk. They said that thier computer said they didnt have that size. Im all for computers but for f**ks sake...pick up the phone and call around too! Anyways, they are supposed to do the alignment today and have it cleaned and ready for me tomorrow (if all goes well).

...and the saga continues...

picosrx8
06-16-2004, 11:47 AM
Well, today is the day! They said it will be ready this afternoon. Now Im just keeping my fingers crossed that all the repairs were done right and the car drives the same. At least I get a 45min road test on the way home to find out! Wish me luck everyone!

Its official...

The bitch is back! After five long weeks of driving a "cute ute" my girl is back. It seems to be just how I remember it. The only thing is the brakes feel a bit spongy to me. Ill have to drive one at rev it up next weekend to see if Im crazy or not. The car looks great. Although I havent washed it yet, I havent had anything jump out to me. The only bummer is the interior. (You know how I keep my interior Paradigm) Some knucklehead got dirt on my suede door inserts and there are two dirt spots on the headliner. Cant wait to see how they get them out. I got to say though, it looks so nice in my garage tonight!:D

My new tire (ya know the one I had to deliver to the body shop) is losing air when I drive. I lose about 10 psi every 60 or 70 miles. It holds the pressure parked. Im guessing the valve stem is leaking (heard they are hard to seal with the TPMS). Anybody else gotten new tires and had leaks. I was planning on getting new tires and rims soon. Im wondering if this is going to be a on going battle every new set of rubber.

paradigm
06-19-2004, 01:14 AM
Pico, when you're ready for new rims and tires I can give you the contact info of the guy who got me my new tires and mounted/balanced them for me. If you look for someone on your own ask them if the've done any newer corvettes. The vette has a TPMS system very similar to ours, and the prodecures for removal/mounting/balancing are almost identical.

Good stuff John.

I am almost positive it is the valve stem. The new one that leaks i can wiggle it freely. The others are very stiff. Ill get that info from you Paradigm. So far Ive got two prices for my rims and tires. One is Tire Rack, the other is Wheel Expressions on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. Id rather have a local shop do the work (in case of any problems). If anyone knows of another good wheel shop around please let me know. I cant wait to see my 8 with some 22" DUBs! LOL!

Well, what can I say. It's a small car!! ;)

Seriously though, there's quite a few posts on it here on the forums. I guess there was a bad batch of buttons sent out on the early builds.

Call me and let me know what kind of wheels and tires you want. I got my tires cheaper than tire rack ($178x4 + $50 for shipping, as opposed to the flat $175x4 I paid for my tires).

I didn't see any of you guys today!!! I asked some dude if he was one of the guys I met in O-town...but alas, no.......I saw a nice black one parked head on w/ mine when I was leaving. NO note exchanges though.....I also saw another silver one on the way out, but they wouldn't roll down the window so I could say 'nice day, huh?'........ Other than that I left there around 3 in 10th spot in the novice category. I bet I'll drop, but this gave me a thrill to start looking for more places to to some closed course driving w/ clocks. It was hot and fun.

Yellow RX-8's everywhere! Any of you guys in Palm Beach Gardens? I keep seeing yellow 8's every day around the Northlake and Military Trail area. One has what appears to be a carbon fiber hood. Another has yellow rotary accents.
Anyway, just saying hi.

MyLadyDeb
07-06-2004, 11:20 PM
that's gotta be me....yellow - I live around Military and Burns and work on Fairway. I'm all over the neighborhood. What color are you driving - I usually have the sound system up so loud I don't hear honks but flash at me .... I only know of maybe 3 or 4 that I've seen up this way and so far nobody that has responded to my "hey" - but I'm the only yellow one I know. I would've put my plate on the front that says (My Lady Deb) but I had ruining that front end - lol

MyLadyDeb
07-07-2004, 09:08 PM
how way? there are times I head out there past IBIS to visit my Dad at Menorah Gardens? How far past that? just a few weeks longer and I'll have my time and sanity back - the college crowd, that have been living at my house this summer, will be heading back to school.....oh no, I'll be soooooooooo lonely ----- NOT - lol

paradigm

I'm even further west than that. I'm actually just a few blocks south of northlake off of grapeview. Less than 5 minutes from menorah gardens.

You're out in my neck of the woods. I'm a few streets south of Northlake on Coconut out in the acreage.

Don't have a 8 yet, but hopefully soon. I have an Avalanche and a mustang. Trying to convince the wife to let me trade the mustang for an 8. Not looking too good so far.

paradigm
07-09-2004, 01:22 AM
You can take her for a test drive in mine. That might help. ;)

What's her reasoning behind not allowing you trade the mustang for the rx8?

AlexCisneros
07-09-2004, 07:22 AM
My wife kept telling me the RX8 was too small and that we needed to be able to fit "future" baby seats in it.

After buying it anyway... My nieces came to town and I had BOTH baby seats in the back without needing to move. I'm 5'8" so not too tall, but either way I rubbed it in ;)

The 8 is much bigger than the mustang inside and you'd be surprised how much crap you can haul in it :D

avho
07-09-2004, 12:51 PM
She doesn't want to give up the convertible. That and the mustang will be paid off in the next year. It would be nice not to have two car payments.

We test drove one a few months back, but I wasn't completely sold due to the flooding issues. She almost flooded it on the test drive. It finally started, so I took it out on I-95 and nailed it. I love the way they drive. Now it seems flooding has been pretty much eliminated, so I'm ready. Now I just have to convince her to give up the convertible. Not an easy task.

paradigm
07-10-2004, 10:32 AM
Now.....if it was me, I'd just go out and buy it on my own credit.

That's pobably why I'm not married. :D
