Thanks to all the info provided by this forum! i've decided and successfully convinced my parents to let me put a preorder on a RX-8. ( although not 100% certain that i'll be getting one, stil depends greatly how my marks for this semester)

so this coming weekend im going to head to a mazda dealership and put down my $1000 !!

but im still having a hard time picking out the color i want ( i already know i wont be able to afford the $3000) option

Im debating between Black, sliver or grey!
how many of u guys picked one of those 3?

The black is nice, but it is a very dirty color. You will also see the swirl marks. I went with the Ti-grey. The silver is really nice, but I allready have a silver car in the family.

There is a reason why Titanium is the #1 color choice for the RX-8 -- it is simply an awesome color. It has great depth and sparkle. All the colors you mentioned are great (I saw them all in person in Detroit) but the Silver is very light and somewhat flat. The black (and I love black cars) really hides the lines of the RX-8.

That said -- and you can see my personal choice below. If I were at your age and situation -- I would get the Velocity Red Mica with Red leather seats -- if your going to show off the car in the school parking lot and local drag -- you might as well get the flash :D

p.s. -- my parents got me an RX-7 of my 17th birthday (20 years ago) and I still thank them for the best present ever!:cool:

I think there is a poll in the forum somewhere on color choices, though probably not all voted. As I recall, and for good reason, the titanium grey had the largest number of votes, with around 25%. My opinion: black is shiny when clean but difficult to keep that way and does hide the lines; silver is nice but still hides this cars lines; yellow is hard to judge what it'll look like and may gather more police attention and dirt than I'd like; I've yet to see a model showing the green - not sure what's happened to it (the early New Beetles had a lot of trouble with pigmenation showing the same shades in the yellow on steel vs on plastic); blue and red are nice. I went with red just because I can't imagine having any other color - but not after agonizing over it considerably - I originally was hooked on yellow then thought the pics posted at rotarynews of the grey from Laguna made it look great.

Hey congrats! Glad to hear that your parents are allowing you to do this. You're a lucky dude. My parents still don't like the idea of me getting such a flashy car (I'm 26 now!), they're typical asian parents ... very reserved.

Anyways, in terms of colours, as has been mentioned around here, the black is "flat". I think that's partly because it's not metallic. I chose Red because it's the only colour that you can get if you want a Black/Red interior. All in all, Red + Black/Red makes for a very flashy combo. I like the titanium a lot too, but it's more of a "reserved" colour, IMO.

i actually had my eye set on Grey right from the beginning but i really hated the black/tan leather that came w/ it. Plus i remember reading alot of post here about ppl wanting to switch out of grey!

But come to think of it now that im getting i would have black /grey!! and that picture closed the deal!!! Titanium Grey it is!!!!

ps. i dont want it to be really flashy ( no red or yellow thanx) haha the main while i want the RX-8 is because of the freestyle doors and wat not.. 0-100km in 5.9 sec.. just a bonus :P

I hadn't noticed before the chrome around the rear fog light mount. That is begging for a light.

i dont recall seeing a chrome around wat should've been a rear fog light at the edmonton autoshow, the Rx-8 on display was silver.. but i cannot remember exactly and i didnt take any pictures.

that's because it's an accessory under developement, currentlu available in japan only.

commonly referred to as "pissers" they shoot washer fluid onto the headlights to help keep them clean. stock on euro versions, probably not available in the states.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in the UK the rear fog light is standard. All cars here are required by law to have rear fog lights.

Also I appears that we will be getting the rear lip spoiler as standard as well. It appeared on the Mazda website stating that the spoiler is there to increase fuel economy.

If I were you I would complain to the dealers. I don't see why we should get the spoiler if it increases fuel economy and you guys don't.

it seems that for us Canadian the "pisser" is standard for both GS and GT trim

If I have to I'll cut up a bicycle reflector and glue it into the rear fog light hole. I know its just a gimmick here in the states but that light & shape is another little distinctive touch to set this car apart from everything else on the road.

watch Mazda charges 3 digits for it as an add on accessory :p

don't joke too much -there was an insinuation awhile about mazda charging as much as $200 USD for that lamp:(
