heh.

local dealership here had a model car with strakes, rotary accents, and a few other things. They added $430 for the strakes, $300 for the accents, and so on. What a deal.

Gunther Mazda here in Fort Lauderdale had a "Mazdaspeed RX-8" with full body kit, wheels and interior trim (but none of the other goodies) for $42 but at least it was a GT.

A dealership in south FL was selling a "full mazdaspeed" RX-8 for $47k. They claimed it was $1,000 over invoice.

I passed that up pretty quickly.

Listen to that: Dealers over here are much worse. Wanted the strakes and the guy tells me 420euros (about $500) and adds "what did you expect, you own an rx-8!"
Well, I just smiled in irony, walked out and gave him the finger!

There is speculation as to if Mazda will and when it would be over here. There is much talk about it on the site pert nere every day.

As for that price... hmmm... not so much. That's about $15k above a well equipped GT.

I'd do the same thing, but as of right now, I don't think that one could spend 15k on performance parts that will still allow the car to look stock (other than the wheels that will need replaced imo) .... somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

No,Mazda will NOT be importing the race-edition RX-8,nor will they be selling the parts through dealerships.
We'll have to go through JDM dealers if we want the parts.
Source?
MazdaSport magazine,the NEWEST issue.

Keep in mind the JDM MS RX-8 doesn't have leather interior, or power anything. It's a sport package based machine... Type S in Japan, 2,750,000 JPY. The MS RX-8 comes to 3,600,000 JPY... which is cheaper than buying all the parts separately...

JDM is basically a super light 8 with a few engine (and etc) mods. its sacrificing comfort for speed.
