Ok, it bugs me when people change lanes in front of you or turn right without signaling.

There seems to be no particular group that fails to signal more than another, but in driving for almost 30 years, it seems to have grown to be commonplace and normal.

The people that change lanes and speed ahead don't bother me, but those that change and than cause me to slow down or those that slow down approaching an intersection and/or sit waiting to turn right because of traffic or pedestrians, drive me crazy. Am I being overly sensitive to this?

I hate it when people do this in traffic. My usual responce is to give them the horn and then the finger.

Alot of people here in Virginia are oblivious of the fact that failing to use ones turn signals or "blinkers" is now punishable under the more stricter aggressive driving laws they put in affect a few years back.

That may not be a wise thing to do in Texas, unless you're sure you're packing more heat than they are.

FYI...Shocka...they actually are restating the 10 and 2 deal to conform more towards 9 and 3 due to people driving in 10 and 2 and when in an airbag deploying accident breaking their wrists. So in a lot of Medical Journals and magazines i've seen articles recommending 9 and 3..

Because it should be a habit. If you have to think about "is someone near me", you are making it more difficult than it neads to be. Just use the signals automatically. In my case, I deliberately have to think about NOT using the signals because I've been using them for 30+ years.

Same goes for using your headlights when it rains. So many jerks out there think that since it is day time they should not use their headlights even though the rain is really coming down. (By the way in Maryland, it's the law that if your wipers are on, so should your headlights).

Not sure I agree with you on the first point. Good driving practice has taught me that you should check and be aware of what's around you BEFORE putting on the indicator. I hate it when I'm just about to overtake a car, and the other driver starts indicating to overtake the car in front of him, before I have passed him, because I'm never sure whether he has seen me. And being a defensive driver, I'd invariably lift off the gas, just in case. You should not indicate automatically.

Here, when you go for your driving test, you not only have to use your indicators, but you also have to indicate using your arm when doing right turns, left turns and slowing down. And changing gears at the same time while keeping at least a hand on the steering wheel. Pheew!

I didn't mean you shouldn't be aware of other drivers. On the contrary, you absolutely MUST be aware of all the bozos in the general area. I just meant that as far as using signals are concerned that should be an automatic thing. You also shouldn't start to turn then put your signal on (its too late then). Signals should be put on a couple of seconds before you actually change lanes or turn. (Turn them off TOO)

I always use the signals, it's so automatic in my mind that sometimes I do it for normal turns! Like there's no other place to go but turn and flip, I turn on the signals. duh!

Signaling where you intend to go is just giving away your inteded position to the enemy. It seems like every time I signal, the a-hole in the other lane speeds up to block me. Of course now I'm cutting him off to show him who's boss and we have a new case of road rage. It's far easier sometimes to just not use one. Just make sure that you intend to go faster when you get over there. It sucks when they slow down in front of you. Of course I have a double standard and get pissed when people don't signal in front of me but damn it, it's my road and they shouldn't be there in the first place!!!

I always signal. Even if I end up cutting someone off, I give them fair warning. (I don't like doing it but sometimes it must be done.) One time I signaled and cut someone off on teh beltway in slow traffic and my mom was in the car and she waved thinking they let us in. I told her, "Don't wave. They didn't let me in; I cut them off." I generally try to be curteous while driving and I'm not a speed demon like most people my age. (I speed, just not excessively.) I also have a spotless driving record. :D

These things got a turn signal on them?? I'd rather they guess which way I am going, that's half the fun, besides, I am over 40 and when I use my turn signal to change lanes, it's usually on for a few miles afterwards. :D
