There are a lot of discussions on the availability of performace parts for the M/T model. Maybe the not-so-performance oriented A/T owners would also like to know what options they have to improve their cars, so lets start this thread and concentrate on the performance options known to work with A/T models.
To start, I know that SR Motorsports advertises a RAM air kit (http://www.srmotorsports.com/RX8_Performance_Intake_Parts.html) that even if not providing a huge HP increase, might smoothen the revs.
Anybody knows other tested mods (i.e., not speculations about products to come)? ECU, FI, etc.?

You can get basically the same stuff. I have intake, exhaust, midpipe. All I am waiting for is the ECU when Canzoomer comes out with one for the auto.

Is Canzoomer working on a ECU for A/T? Could not find any hint. So you didn't go with the RAM air setup? Not trustworthy? :)

Do a search on the topic; but in short Mazda engineered the hell out of the intake and exhaust setup on the stock car--therefore there are not a lot of HP gains to be made on any intake or exhaust on the RX8s (MT or AT). It's really for aesthetics--the HP to $ ratio isn't good enough for me to put over $1000 into intake and exhaust. There are some gains to be had from a midpipe or high-flow cat. And Ram Air is a common misconception as well--any true "Ram Air" HP gained would come at triple digit speeds. The intake on the RX8 is very efficient--it would be more feasible to just put a high flow air filter and pick up a couple of HP than a full intake and pick up maybe 10HP high on the rev band and lose more low end torque. I'm sure others will chime in with more technical analysis. I too have the A/t and I'll just wait for Canzoomer--if he does produce and ECU mod for A/Ts.

I have RE intake, BB midpipe, BB cat-back, and I have noticed a big differance at about 5000 to 7500. Suit yourself, but for a car that needs every HP it can get; I think that these mods are well worth it. The HP gains are all in the high RPM, which is good for track.
I took my car to the track when stock, and then with all my mods. I found myself having to shift up to the next gear, because of my increased HP.
