I need help some help in choosing a college beater that will be used exstesively for the next 2 years of colledge and hopefully after that as a winter car for my first car i buy out of colledge(used rx8 most likely) I dont like fwd much but from what i see the only way i can go and get a reliable car that sets 4 real people and has a trunk. i will be buying such a car in the next few months with my dads friend who is a used car salesman at an auto auction. i have around 2000$$ of my own to spend and could borrow up to 1000$ from my dad however i would rather not do that. anyways heres a couple of my preliminary possibilities i have thought of

(all cars would be manual transmission of course)

1988-1994 protoge either lx or dx
1991-1997 escort wagon
1995-1998 contour v6
and maybe a civic, i dont know too much about them

well anyways i would just like to see what you guys thought about that and yes i know escorts are POS's but at least it will be a practical POS) it is also to be noted that i will have acess to a miata for some sommer fun so i wont be totally rwd deprived. Also to be noted is that i wont be back till monday due to a rugby mardi gra tournament.

anyways any additional ideas or comments whould be helpful thanks in advance and Remember Mr Rogers!!!

get a 94 Protege, they are very cheap compared to similar year Civics, and they will last you through 4 years of college (and beyond) without major repairs
