Just curious, what's the insurance range like on this sweet machine. I've never owned a sports car so this will be my first. I can't find the rx-8 listed on any auto insurance company. I call them and they've never heard of the vehicle (including AAA).

Profile:

25 years old
9 years driving
excellent record
male

If anyone fits the profile or close to it I'd love some insight. In pruchasing this car I have to consider what my insurance costs might be too.
Mazda of Culver City Import Group suggests getting quotes based on the 350 Z. What do y'all think?

Go to insweb.com and request a quote.

I did this a while back and received a quote from two insurance companies. Mine came out to about $620.00/6 months. I'm 43 with a clean driving record; also used the multiple cars option.

I just got my quote back for an insurance mod from GEICO, and removing my Escort from my policy and adding the RX-8 will raise my insurance by about $200 for 6 months... but I'm 25, married, with a perfect driving record, and in the military, so my insurance is pretty cheap in general...

I just checked with our Allstate agent. They don't have numbers for the RX-8 yet, so I asked her to quote me for a 350Z to give me a ballpark estimate. $511/6months - 44, clean record, multiple car discount. For comparison, the wife's '02 Miata costs about $460/6m.
