Does anyone realize just how much simpler it is to rebuild a rotary engine when compared to a conventional piston engine? I saw it done on my brother in law's 1983 RX-7 13B (foreign market) engine and was surprised at the simplicity.
Perhaps someone else can give details as I am not too mechanically inclined.

Don't expect your Fred Average Motors-R-Us engine exchange service to start offering changeover rotaries any time soon, and avoid them like the plague if they do!
My engine builder when I was racing my RX-3, would take the better part of a day to assemble a 13B. He would measure and file all the seals to ensure proper tolerances, and examine every part that was being reused in minute detail. He took pride in his work, and his engines seldom failed and routinely took out state and regional championships. (Never with me driving, unfortunately.)
