I hate SI units! Where's Autometer?! J/K. Nice gauges. Will you be needing a boost one anytime soon? ;) Nemesis8 10-18-2004, 06:05 PM I like both your gauges :) Twinturbo2800 10-18-2004, 07:02 PM whats the greedy oil cathc thingy, ..and what exactly does the stabilizer do ? XDEEDUBBX 10-18-2004, 07:40 PM it stabilizes voltage...hahah Cattywampus 10-18-2004, 09:01 PM Yeah way to go!!!!!!If I needed to learn how to fu*k up a perfectly good 8 i'll come to you. That looks like sh*t. Your gauges aren't necessary man. What does Type S mean? Tirminyl 10-18-2004, 09:08 PM Yeah way to go!!!!!!If I needed to learn how to fu*k up a perfectly good 8 i'll come to you. That looks like sh*t. Your gauges aren't necessary man. What does Type S mean? Yeah, like your comments were really needed. Type S is a model like GT Cattywampus 10-18-2004, 09:24 PM Yeah, like your comments were really needed. Type S is a model like GT I'm sorry. Just when I see stuff that ridiculous it's hard not to comment. Yes but does the 8 even come with Type S? The gauges aren't needed unless the car is driven in the U.S.. The voltage stabilizer. Is that really needed too? But anyway I like the interior in it. How come they didn't switch the shifter and the e-brake around? army_rx8 10-18-2004, 10:28 PM lol that was too funny...but to answer your question ask your-self if you would liek functional guages? i for one do..and i imagine Neon did as well..hence why neon got the guages. But to each his/her own. I never did understand why people flame others.....they like it one way and you liek it anouther that is why you each have your own respective cars and do what you do to them. :p well tiem to get back to chosing which guages i want to get :D Oh and i thought they did have a type-s overseas...i haven't really did any research on it since i am in the us. but i thought they did not sure what options it has but i think it was liek the rx-8 with the sport package or something. do a search if you are really interested police:) hehe there is a crazy amount of knowledge on here...haha and most of it is good  army_rx8 10-18-2004, 10:34 PM Twinturbo2800 the greddy oil catch can thingy basicly traps blow back gas and water from the oil and seperates it from the good stuff. Basicly it makes sure only oil gets into your engine to be used for cooling/lubrication; i think it is supposed to help in the longevity of your engine, not sure how much it really helps though..but it does help a lill' and it is a nice dress up to your engine bay. That is my understanding of it. haha sorry fo rthe wishy washy terms but it is late..and i didn't feel like expanding my vocab. althought i could've sworn it was supposed to be mounted up and not on it's side..but i've never used one. I'll probable pick one up before i get a turbo..haha which at this rate will be a long time. :( Tirminyl 10-19-2004, 08:53 AM I'm sorry. Their Type S model is their high-end model (next to Mazdaspeed): Mazda News Site (http://media.ford.com/mazda/article_display.cfm?article_id=14092) - Japan's site (http://www.rx-8.mazda.co.jp/grade.html) You may use babel fish (http://world.altavista.com/babelfish/tr) to help translate. As far as the gauges...why are they not needed? Do you really need a tachometer or useless oil temp gauge that comes stock with the car? People purchase gauges because they want to monitor their car better. I didn't know you had to live in the US to monitor your car. Thankfully, I live in the US so I have a good reason to use a boost gauge. Feras 10-19-2004, 10:48 AM zoomed out....with controller below steering wheel and savv in sight! LCD rear-view mirror. :D No porno tho.... whats that bulbous blue and white thing in front of the vents/head unit? some sort of new mp3 player? errant 10-19-2004, 10:49 AM police34, please do a lil homework before you go sprouting off. In Japan (home of the RX-8) the high end ie, 250ps model is denoted as a type-S. Pardon me for being frank, but comments such as these don't help address the image of the typically ignorant American- which I'm sure the majority of people on this board aren't (ignorant that is) :) And if you realise that ambient temperatures in Singapore do get pretty warm- just like I'd imagine they'd do in Tampa where you are, you'd do yourself a favour by getting similar gauges, especially if you intend to track it (like some of us do, instead of the supermarket run or simply posing next to it). The oil and water/coolant temps do climb a fair bit.. and you'd be surprised if you're coming from the non-FI, piston engined world. Jump120MPH 10-19-2004, 11:34 AM I like these gauges. Neon 10-19-2004, 12:44 PM Thanks Errant, dont lie to Police34 though.... Police34, the gauges simply tell me the time...I am into GMTs and Zones. Type S means Super Model. Its for fun, realli. Theres no such thing....PEACE. Nemesis8 10-19-2004, 12:50 PM I still like YOUR gauges :p Tirminyl 10-19-2004, 01:58 PM Thanks Errant, dont lie to Police34 though.... Police34, the gauges simply tell me the time...I am into GMTs and Zones. Type S means Super Model. Its for fun, realli. Theres no such thing....PEACE. They still look good hehe. BlueFrenzy 10-19-2004, 03:32 PM Looks interesting. I still find it very weird to have your signal stalk on the right vs on the left. Ha ha ... it's like being in the mirror world. Cattywampus 10-19-2004, 05:28 PM police34, please do a lil homework before you go sprouting off. In Japan (home of the RX-8) the high end ie, 250ps model is denoted as a type-S. I asked if there was. So don't call someone ignorant without checking your statement 1st. The gauges that come with the car do the same thing as the ones that don't. Here annoying kids use them to make their car seem like it is fast. Type s, gauges,V-TEC, Bodykits, etc. is all marketing. It dos nothing for the car. That is why I said that. If h likes all his gauges then ok. Cattywampus 10-19-2004, 05:32 PM Thanks Errant, dont lie to Police34 though.... Police34, the gauges simply tell me the time...I am into GMTs and Zones. Type S means Super Model. Its for fun, realli. Theres no such thing....PEACE. I apologize for saying that remark about you car. I see these kids around here with 10 gauge in thei car and they are all pointless. I didn't mean to offend you at all. When I said you might need them if you were in America is because of the mph change. I didn't notice where you were from. :) Again sorry HERO 10-21-2004, 05:28 PM I have to admit, I really like how the guages look. Then again, I also have to admit how good your avatar pic looks as well :D Nemesis8 10-21-2004, 05:37 PM Those are the gauges I was referring to early on also... :) rotten42 10-21-2004, 05:45 PM That is weird...the car is right hand drive but they had the parking brake between the driver and the shifter......that has to be a annoying. errant 10-23-2004, 02:50 AM rotten42: again from another perspective, the rx-8 was designed as a RHD drive car (that's how they drive in Japan). so.... they must have put the brake there for a reason, and the reason is handbrake turns/initiating drifts! much easier to do so when the handbrake is closer to you than on the other side. I drive RHD and with the parking brake down, it basically 'becomes' part of the transmission tunnel and doesn't intrude at all. |
