I currently own a 2002 wrx and am contemplating leasing a RX-8. Can anyone please advise how the mazda handles in snow (with winter tires)
Any replies would be appreciated

A search will turn up many threads that would give you all the information you wish to know - this has been discussed frequently and extensively since last October.

To get you started, here's one long thread on this subject: First test of RX-8 in snow - it's great! (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13623)

I drove all winter in Philadelphia with Blizzaks on the car, and it handled great in all kinds of ice and snow. It was really good; no worries.

I drove all winter in Wisconsin with Dunlop M3s and the car handled it great. I was seriously impressed.

I drove all winter in Spokane and it was great... not as good as my wife's Audi with quattro but definitely good.

Hello,

I live in Switzerland, and have to drive on snow for almost 6 months per year. The best tyres I found are the Pirelli Winter snow sport 240. They have a V rate speed allowing you to drive till 240kph (150mph), and they have an incredible grip on both wet and dry roads that lets you think you have summer tyres. On snow, they are as good as any others very good winter tyres!

As for the rest, the Rx-8 has a very good balance + a torsen differential which is the best we can imagine in these hard conditions. Anyway, it will never allow you to follow a WRX, but it's very good!

yes, the 8's 50/50 balance is good

what ever you do, just make sure you do not attempt to drive an RX-8 with stock tires on the snow.
