Stock airdam...what is this made of?

Couldn't figure out where else to post this, so if it gets moved, np. I am repairing a stock Appearance package air dam. I'm nearing the end but want to get smething that will finish the surface better than the method I have been using.

However, I would really like to know what this material actually is. Is it Polyethylene, Thermoset Polyurethane, Thermoplastic Polyurethane, Thrmoplastic Elastomer, Thermoplastic Ether Ester Elastomer, Polypropylene or somthing else? Any clues?

Am pretty sure Mazda are users of Metton LMR (Liquid Molding Resin), which is a plastic. Here's a link to the Metton website:

Not sure if that material is correct. However, I have no proof it isn't either but I do not think that this material will do the chalking that is decribed in the Bonding and Painting section.

I quoted Metton LMR because of a post under the Trussville Mazda section re: material the Mazdaspeed RX-8 body parts are mfr'd from. No reason to believe they're dissimilar to the OE pieces, but you might try contacting the guy who moderate's Trussville's section on this forum. Good luck.

Look at what they have posted under japanparts.com. I think it's polypropylene.

Thanks, that helps a lot as to what materials that are needed to bond with it. It still needs to be heated together with some filler material in it that is able to bond with this material.
