I know that I should probably be looking on the RX-7 forum for this, but... I see in different places that the RX-7 put out 230 and 320 hp. Which of these is true?

 

It depends on the year. I believe that the 93 was rated at 245hp. I'm sure every year after that saw modest power increase. I don't know what the 2002 model is. Many people mod their engines and the output can be anywhere from 245 to 700 (or higher).

1st gen 13B - 130hp

2nd gen(86-88)N/A - 146HP
2nd gen(89-91)N/A - 160hp
2nd gen(87-88)TII - 182hp
2nd gen(89-91)TII - 200hp

So in other words all the people posting on ebay are just a bunch of retards unless they have actually done work to their cars... aight, good call.

 

90% of people who advertise cars like this on eBay either

A) Have no goddamn clue, and just put in whatever information they've thought they heard over the years. Or they make it all up.

B) They hope the person who's going to buy is a total moron and doesn't know that they're making things up, so that way they'll get more money for their vehicle.

 

Yeah, people on ebay are morons. Maybe its just me, but I wouldn't trust buying a car on ebay anyway. It just doesn't seem like a good idea.

 

Just on a side note, the RX-7 was produced in Japan upto very recently, pushing out a reliable 280+ HP (In Japan they aren't permitted to publish horsepower #'s above 280... well actually, strictly speaking cars sold there aren't supposed to have more than 280 HP, but we all know thats not true...)

In Canada, we got RX-7's until 1997. And MX-3's with the V6 until 98 after they were discontinued in the US years before.
