But I am buying Gamecube today to get my free game, and I am ordering Zelda so I can get Ocarina of Time (greatest game ever) free with it. :D

My childhood bonds are too strong for me to turn my back on Metroid, Starfox, Zelda, Mario, and all the other greats.

all the good racing games are on ps2. Gt3, motoGP. Those are about the only 2 I play. all of the good f1 games are for ps2 as well, but i don't like f1 games.

PS2- Gamecube is fun (we got my brother one for Christmas last year and we play everytime he comes home from school) but it tends to have more "kiddie" games than the Playstation. Yeah, ok, so all I've played recently is Ratchet and Clank, but that's less kiddie than ANY of the Mario games.

I have said it before and I will say it again, GRAND THEFT AUTO, it is the greatest game ever made IMHO. So PS2 is my fav. Xbox is ok, but looks like a VCR with a dinner plate atatchted to the top of it. Halo makes up for it. Gamecube is my least favorite. Like Elara said it is more of a kiddy system.

i also a agree that Grand Theft Auto is the best game ever.

Gran Turismo suckers :p (long live the PSX!! ;))... actually, the whole series comprises of the best driving game ever made, until the next one came along... and i've also never played an F1 game that completely satisfied me, until the GT series put those old schooler F1 cars into it ;)... but still i yearn for a real challenge, with greater sophistication...

actually, the Ferrari F355 Challenge game is fuckin' awesome, the dynamics are very realistic (most especially the brakes), but you can only drive one car!!! :( that's the only knock against it... well, that and the tracks aren't really that good as reproductions...

i'm with tallguylehigh in that i can't forget about all the killer ol'school nintendo games, but there are only a few which give me reason to get a game cube (Zelda, RE Zero are a few...)

Might want to try Need for Speed HOT PURSUIT II Dynamics in that is pretty real also.

Am I the only XBOX owner here? I have the Mad Catz 2 wheel and pedals, and a few racing games:
Project Gotham Racing (the straight races are good, the kudos challenges requiring non-stop sliding seem pointless)
Sega GT 2002 (truly excellent game, too few tracks)
RalliSport Challenge (haven't played it enough)
Looking forward to Midtown Madness 3 and Colin McRae Rally 3.

Nah, you're not the only one. I have a PS2 and Xbox (but voted for PS2 since I play that the most). I don't play either very much any more though.

I was thinking about picking up a GameCube just to play Metroid Prime but decided that purchasing a system for just a single game was a tad ridiculous.

Talking about Nintendo brought back some memories. I remember the commercials back in '85/'86 with the cool looking Nintendo robot (ROB - I think that's what he was called). He would pick up those spinning tops and set them down. What great fun he must have been. Anyone else remember him? Did anyone actually have it?

as a hard-core Final Fantasy fan, owning the roms or disc of every FF yet made (yes, even the japanese ones badly translated), and beating all of the ones that aren't f*cked up at some point, i have to say that FFX was a great effort, with a nice refereshing touch on the voice overs, even though it looked like shit when all the faces were animated for the japanese script (like, the worst kung fu movies ever made ;))... okay, so that's kinda cool in that way too, but still...

I too am a FF nut. I have played/completed them all except for the Japanese imports. I didn't mean to say the FFX was the best ever out of the series (which I don't think you took my message as saying anyway). The entire Blitzball minigame pretty much bored me to tears. It was way too easy and way too repetitive. The storyline was adaquate but not as good as 6 or even 8. It did seem a little less tedious than some others but that may just be me. These all are rather minor critiques. All of the FF games are rather amazing.

About the challenge aspect of the game: The bosses might be a tad easy (depending on how much time you spent gaining xp) but the Monster Arena is pretty hard. I made it through 7/8 of the sphere grid with Yuna and nearly 100% of the way with Tidus and some of those creatures can still wipe the floor with me.

For the official record, 8 was my favorite. It had the best combination of story, gameplay and challenge.

yeah, for me like 8 and 6 are it... 8 for gameplay 100%... :D ultemicia is so hard!! :D

and for that monster arena, when you get like damned near 100% of all the weapons and you can hurt like nearly 100k damage every time (that is SO cool, but then the final boss licks so much balls compared to you), all that is needed it care with the super-marlboro's... :D
