View Full Version : I told you so...
ohhno15 02-21-2003, 01:08 PM A while ago I told you guys I want to the St. Louis auto show and the Mazda guys said that the RX-7 will be coming alot sooner than we think and that the Renesis is capable of 300+HP, and might be forced induction (via some kind of supercharger, according to one of the Mazda guys.) But many people said these were just local guys who had no idea what they were talking about. Well check this out:

p.s. I know these links are already posted I just though they helped get my point across.
Think the MPS rx8 will ever see the higher side of 300 hp?
Hercules 02-21-2003, 01:43 PM First link doesn't work.
As per the MPS RX-8, I think it will be over 300 horses as well as the RX-7. The Rotary News link is just pure speculation.

..and it says that RN has not been able to confirm the "coming soon" rumours that other sources have mentioned.

and thats not to say that they will be using the same RENESIS engine as the ones in the first production RX-8s either. Therefore your analysis of the speculation on these sites isn't completely without flaw.

hoooooooly shit...
;) heh heh, i know it's not your fault... lucky sunofabitch... :D
chenpin 02-21-2003, 10:42 PM Quick, do a search for all of Maestro's posts. Maybe he's dropped hints before. ;)
nk_Rx8 02-21-2003, 11:16 PM If Maestro can't say, then that just means there is something to say - meaning yes, it's coming! Or else he would have be able to just say no. A company not coming out with a product is not usually a big secret.
wakeech 02-22-2003, 12:31 AM it is a big secret if the future is uncertain, or if their plans on product development could garner benefit to competing companies if they were to design a counter-product (something just as good, but better)

ohhno15 02-23-2003, 08:09 PM Oops, here the post, it's been around so it's not new.

I hope it works
Hercules 02-23-2003, 08:13 PM The best quote, and the one that makes me happiest because it mentions that Mazda is looking to keep the car NA (which is the best imo)...
Meanwhile, chief Mazda rotary engineer Hiroshi Kinoshita indicated a larger capacity version of the 184kW RX-8's 1.3-litre twin-rotor Renesis engine with side-mounted exhaust and induction ports was the preferred option to power the next RX-7 - or a higher-performance RX-8 variant - rather than increasing the number of rotors or turbocharging.
"There are three possible ways to increase power from this engine," Mr Kinoshita said. "Turbo is one, using extra rotors is another and using wider rotors to increase engine capacity is a third.
"This engine can be turbocharged, that is technically possible, but there is still more power available through normal aspiration.
"For me, the most suitable method would be the third - increase capacity with bigger rotors."

But many people said these were just local guys who had no idea what they were talking about. Those still aren't official announcements. If those guys in St. Louis said it was a done deal (like you said they did), they were still talking out of their keister, whether an RX7 will come to production or not. You could claim that it will have forced induction, but even if it does, it doesn't mean that you had inside information, it just means that you guessed correctly.
Moving to the proper forum...

mjgc0 02-25-2003, 01:23 PM The bottom of the article states the RX-7 is slated for 2006. I hope it was written conservatively.
Yeah, I am planning on a 36 mo. lease for my RX-8, so if I want I can purchase an RX-7 when my lease is up!
Maestro 02-25-2003, 02:58 PM The RX-7 won't have forced induction ;D
