If you don't take the navigation system, is that space filled by more storage room, like the new Accord does?

The 6 has a little storage compartment where the navi will go, so one could assume it will be the same. Plus it will be cheaper to produce all the same dash's and just insert a compartment or nav which ever is selected. It is also this way in most other cars where nav is offered (dash mounted).

Yeah my girlfriend's 350zx ** has a (semi-useless) storage compartment on the dash where the navi would go. I believe I saw a pic somewhere with the RX-8 minus a navigation. I don't remember... if I see it I will point it out again.

** Don't worry I will give you plenty of Z and 8 compairisons once I get the 8 and we race each others cars around town.

Pup is correct. If you do not opt for the Nav system it will just be a solid dash.

There will not be a big hole in the center of the dash with some cheap plastic cover on it like there is in another car that is one of the 8's competitors that I won't dignify by mentioning it by name.

About 98% of interior photos have been for non-NAV cars, and they show a smooth surface - no flip up lid for a bin or even a storage depression.

Remember, everything we have seen to date has been pre-production models. Every version (Canada, U.K., Japan, US...) will vary from one another, in some areas.

There will be some surprises once production begins.

Here is a pic of a non-nav equipped car from mazdarx8.com. It looks like there is a separate, but solid, piece where the nav would be. This way Mazda can still save money and get the higher quality look.

Hmmm.... I wonder what it would take to do some... () cutting on that to install my Delphi SkyFi... There really doesn't seem to be much of a place for it in the RX-8, and that's been my biggest question as of late...
